Originally planned as a mini-series, Your Honor will finally have a season 2. Bryan Cranston will be back to headline this breathtaking legal thriller, broadcast on CANAL + in France and available on myCANAL.
Quickly becoming a success when it was broadcast on Showtime in the United States and on CANAL + in France, Your Honor marked the remarkable return of Bryan Cranston in an ambivalent and tragic lead role on television.
The actor of Malcolm and Breaking Bad slipped this time in the skin of judge Michael Desiato who flouts all his principles to protect his son Adam (Hunter Doohan), responsible for a car accident, a hit and run and the death of the son of Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg), a powerful New Orleans mobster.
Throughout the first season, the tension mounts until an explosive and moving finale giving way to a potential sequel. Your Honor showrunner Peter Moffat already had ideas for a second season.
He had thus evoked six months ago these potential new episodes of this American adaptation of the Israeli series Kvodo, which had been entitled to two seasons, to Deadline : “Of course, I’ve been thinking about a sequel and I have several hundred good ideas, but it’s mostly a factual description of the situation in my head.”
Today, Showtime offers him the opportunity to continue the story of Your Honor since the miniseries finally got a second season according to Deadline. According to Gary Levine, president of entertainment at Showtime Networks, it was obvious:
“We were blown away by Your Honor, by the power of Peter’s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance and by the overwhelming response from our audience which brought us record numbers.
Imagine our joy when we learned that Peter thinks he has even more stories to tell and Bryan feels he has more depth to go for. So, along with the millions of fans, I happily shout ‘Again!’ “
Peter Moffat therefore resumes as showrunner, executive producer and screenwriter for these ten new episodes ordered by the channel. Bryan Cranston will also be back to play judge Michael Desiato once again.
Will the French version Un Homme d’honneur, with Kad Merad and Gérard Depardieu, also be entitled to a season 2? For the moment, TF1 has not announced the renewal of the thriller which also ended with an explosive and very open final.
