Fed up with TV series and auteur cinema, Emilie Semiramoth also does not hide her penchant for pop culture in all its eccentricities. From the bromance between Spock and Captain Kirk in Star Trek to the disillusionment of Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, she ignores gender boundaries.

Billed as a powerful film, Worth arrives on Netflix in September starring Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci and Amy Ryan.

Netflix

Netflix has just revealed the release date for Worth, a film that focuses on the aftermath of 9/11 and the entire rebuilding process. The film was directed by Sara Colangelo – the filmmaker behind The Kindergarten Teacher with Maggie Gyllenhaal – and will premiere on Friday, September 3.

This announcement is accompanied by the movie poster, with the trio of actors: Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci and Amy Ryan:

Worth is based on Kenneth R. Feinberg’s book titled What Is Life Worth?: The Unprecedented Effort to Compensation the Victims of 9/11. The film and book tell the true story of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund.

Michael Keaton plays Kenneth Feinberg, a lawyer and mediator appointed by Congress to lead the fund. Together with his team, he faces the impossible task of determining what a life is worth for families who have lost loved ones.

Amy Ryan plays Camille Biros, chief operating officer of Feinberg’s cabinet, and Stanley Tucci that of a man who lost his wife in the attacks. Feinberg’s cynicism will then collapse as he rubs shoulders with human tragedy.

Worth premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, receiving overall positive reviews.
