The Will Smith soap opera continues. After the scandal of his slap to Chris Rock during the Oscars ceremony, the actor must face the consequences. This time, projects could fall through because of this aggression.
A week after making headlines by slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, Will Smith continues to be talked about.
Although he has apologized and resigned from the Academy, the actor will have to face the consequences of his actions.
At the heart of the cyclone since this attack on Chris Rock, Will Smith is jeopardizing his next projects.
According to The Hollywood Reporterproduction on Bad Boys 4 has been halted indefinitely while the Academy investigation delivers its verdict.
The fourth part of the adventures of Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett was expected for 2023. After the success of Bad Boys For Life and its 426 million dollars in worldwide receipts, a sequel was quickly started.
For the moment in pre-production, the project is therefore on hold. Another action movie was put on hiatus after the slap case: Fast & Loose. Produced by Netflix, this feature film tells the story of a man who wakes up in Tijuana (Mexico) with no memory and left for dead.
Soon, he discovers that he has lived two different lives. He would either be a wealthy crime lord or a poor CIA secret agent. The catch is that he can’t remember which of these two identities is his true personal story.
Will Smith has another big project on the go: Emancipation. This is a film about slavery taking place in 1863 and directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). Apple TV, which oversees the production, has not yet announced a decision regarding this film.
We will know more in two weeks, when the Academy will have delivered its verdict on the follow-up to be given to the Will Smith case.
