What is Disney Plus Day?
Disney Plus Day is a wide-reaching celebration of all things Disney. New programs and specials will roll out across Disney brands like ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN and ESPN Plus, Freeform, FX, Hulu, National Geographic in the US, and on Disney-owned channels abroad.
Disney Plus Day will also include promotions, deals, photo opportunities, and other surprises in person. International Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Cruise Line, and shopDisney.com will all get in on the action.

“The inaugural Disney Plus Day will be a grand-scale celebration of our subscribers across the entire company,” said Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek in a statement. “This day of appreciation brings to life our mission to entertain, inform, and inspire fans and families around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, and will become an annual tentpole event to be amplified across our global businesses.”
When and where can you watch?
Disney Plus Day takes place on November 12.
New programming will be available on that date exclusively on Disney Plus, so the main “event” will take place there.
Beyond streaming, attendees to Disney-owned in-person attractions will also get exclusive access to other Disney Plus Day events. But Disney hasn’t specified what those events will entail. Attendees at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world and the Disney Cruise Line, as well as customers shopping at shopDisney.com, can expect some deals and surprises though.
What new content will be released on Disney Plus Day?
On the streaming side, Disney has confirmed a few new programs and specials which will roll out on Disney Plus exclusively starting on November 12, to coincide with Disney Plus Day.
Brand new titles
Disney is launching brand new content across several of its brands on Disney Plus during the November 12 celebration. These include the following:
- Home Sweet Home Alone, a Disney Plus original movie and reimagining of the holiday franchise
- Olaf Presents, an original series of shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios that sees Frozen’s iconic snowman retelling classic Disney tales in his own unique way
- The domestic Disney Plus streaming debuts of Walt Disney Animation Studios shorts. These include Frozen Fever, Oscar winners Feast and Paperman, the Oscar-nominated Mickey Mouse short Get A Horse!, and more
- Ciao Alberto, an animated Pixar short featuring characters from the feature film Luca
- A new The Simpsons short that pays tribute to Disney Plus’ marquee brands
- The first five episodes of season two of National Geographic’s The World According to Jeff Goldblum
- A special focused on the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, who will get his own Disney Plus show after appearing in The Mandalorian
- A special celebrating Disney Plus’ Marvel Cinematic Universe shows and looking towards the future
Theatrical releases moving to streaming
On Disney Plus Day, Jungle Cruise will be available to subscribers without the additional fee. In addition, Marvel’s Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings will move to Disney Plus. Shang-Chi was notably released exclusively in theatres. That exclusive window likely helped it beat all-time Labor Day weekend box-office records even despite the ongoing pandemic.
Disney Plus International
Disney will launch its highly-anticipated Hulu series Dopesick on Disney Plus Day in international markets too.
The international imprint Disney Plus Star, which includes titles from Disney’s 20th Century Studios, FX, Hulu, ABC, and more will be home to the drug overdose-centric prestige series starring Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn Dever, Will Poulter, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Disney Plus Day will also mark the Disney streamer’s expansion into South Korea and Taiwan. Just a few days later on November 16, Disney Plus will also launch in Hong Kong.
What else can we expect?
In addition to confirmed new content offerings, Disney promises that Disney Plus Day “will include breaking news, first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips, and appearances from Disney+ creators and stars.”
Last year’s Disney Investor Day saw a huge number of projects announced across all of the Disney brands. This included feature films as well as new series exclusive to Disney Plus.
Some projects had already been announced, so we just got new trailers. This included a first look at Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, among many others. Some projects, though, were complete surprises, like the Star Wars series Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic, or a new FX series set in the Alien universe.

It’s unclear whether we’ll get announcements of this magnitude on Disney Plus Day. But it would be a fitting time for Disney to unveil first looks at one of those new Star Wars shows. Or maybe tease details about the many upcoming Marvel series.
We’ll have to wait and see what Disney has in store on November 12. But safe money is on the House of Mouse wanting to hold onto a few big surprises.
