What Is the Intellivision Amico, and What Would It Feature?

Intellivision Amico: Many people familiar with video game history will know about the Intellivision. Mattel’s classic console from the early 1980s was unique for producing games with more detail and control than what other consoles at the time had. The directional thumb pad controller, the detailed color scheme, and 16-bit microprocessor in the Intellivision were major innovations.

The Intellivision was discontinued in 1990, but people who enjoyed the console have many great memories of what it had to offer. Intellivision Entertainment still exists as a company that licenses old Intellivision games and has introduced many ports of the company’s classic games.

But now the company has gone one step further by planning an original video game console. The Intellivision Amico will be introduced later this year as a new all-around product.

What the Amico Features

The Amico is a home console that features a distinct design. The Amico features a base that plugs into a television set through an HDMI port. There are a few USB ports on the back end as well.

The console uses an eight-core 1.8GHz CPU with 2 GB RAM. It also has 16 GB of flash memory, although it also supports SD cards and USB storage devices. The device operates off of a 12V power jack.

The console uses a custom operating system based on the Android and Linux standards. The in-house system provides a reliable setup for operation, but it also allows for a bit of flexibility when handling games.

The console also has two controllers that look similar to the original Intellivision controller. The controller has a touchscreen with gyroscope and accelerometer controls. The 64-way directional disc responds to the user’s pressure. There are also four shoulder buttons on the sides and one home button in the middle. A USB-C host provides power to the controllers.

How Are the Games?

The games on the Amico will come in two forms. They will be available as both digital downloads and SD cards.

The games will focus on 2D and 2.5D layouts, although 3D games will be included if they are easy to learn and play. All games also have to include features that are exclusive to the Amico. The games must also be rather E or E10+ by the ESRB.

Many of the games on the Amico will be new versions of some classic Intellivision games. These include such games as B-17 Bomber, Safecracker, Night Stalker, Shark! Shark!, and Snafoo.

There will also be many ports of classic Atari games and other arcade games like 10-Yard Fight, R-Type, and Lode Runner. The console will also include some original games, including a reboot of Sega’s Ecco the Dolphin series and a new game in the Earthworm Jim series.

The Amico will come in five games. Details on the games are unknown at this time.

When Will It Be Released?

The Intellivision Amico will be available on October 10. The product will cost $249.

Downloadable versions of games will be available for $9.99 each. Special edition versions of these games will also appear on SD cards for $30 each.
