‘Don’t sell the bear skin too soon’, such could be the catchphrase of the “Walking Dead” series, as proven by the case of these six characters who we thought were dead but who finally returned to the franchise.
The end of the Walking Dead series will not mark that of the franchise, quite the contrary; in addition to the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead still in circulation, the license will soon welcome new derivatives such as Isle of the Dead, centered on Negan and Maggie, or the anthology Tales of the Walking Dead, which will notably see Alpha make a comeback in a dedicated episode.
Let’s not forget to also mention the untitled spin-off which will follow the adventures of Daryl and Carol, and of course the feature film on Rick Grimes of which we are still without news. But before the sheriff makes his big comeback in the series (perhaps on the occasion of the season 11 finale, expected for the end of the year?), here are six characters from the universe walking dead who were thought to be dead but who finally returned to the program!
MADISON CLARKE IN FEAR THE WALKING DEAD
Nobody really believed in the death of Madison Clarke during the fourth season of Fear of the Walking Dead. The first spin-off of the franchise had already killed several members of its original cast shortly before and the fact of not having seen it die on the screen raised in us the hope of a possible return. . Ultimately unfounded rumors had even hinted that the latter could become Alpha in the parent series.
It was finally when viewers began to forget about Madison’s existence that Fear The Walking Dead brought her back into the series. His return is indeed expected in the second half of the seventh season. According to the program’s writers, the character was never cast aside, so hopefully his return will bring a lot to the show, which many say has surpassed the original series in quality for several years already. walking dead.
MORGAN IN THE WALKING DEAD
He is now a central character in Fear The Walking Dead , but Lennie James’ return to the horror franchise first happened in the original series. Originally introduced as the survivor who explained to Rick Grimes how the world changed while he was in a coma in the pilot episode of walking dead, the latter made his return during season 3 for an episode that was revealed to us as the death of his son Duane made him half crazy. But it wasn’t until Season 5 that he became a series regular.
A few years later, Morgan left the show for a fresh start. His departure coincided with the ellipse of several years that the plot of Fear The Walking Dead in season 4 and which allowed the spin-off – originally conceived as a prequel – to take place at the same time as the story of the parent series.
DWIGHT AND SHERRY IN FEAR THE WALKING DEAD
After the war with the Saviors, Dwight was sentenced to exile, while the fate of his wife Sherry was still up in the air. Dwight then went looking for him and, against all odds, the reunion of the two characters took place during the fifth season of the spin-off. Fear The Walking Dead. Both now appear in the main cast of the series.
MORALS IN THE WALKING DEAD
The reappearance of Morales in walking dead took a lot of fans by surprise. Nobody expected to see him again, but he returned at the start of the eighth season among Negan’s Saviors. Morales lived in the Atlanta camp with his wife and two children. Following the attack that claimed Amy’s life, the latter decided to leave the group and not accompany them to the research center.
MERLE DIXON IN THE WALKING DEAD
Anything but surprising, the return of Merle Dixon in walking dead was expected since we saw his amputated hand on the roof of the mall in the first season. The latter managed to escape the horde of prowlers and decided to take a different path than that of his brother Daryl and the rest of the group. His return came during the third season, as the Governor’s right-hand man at Woodbury.
ONCE IN THE WALKING DEAD: THE WORLD BEYOND
The second spin-off Walking Dead: World Beyond brought back in its second season Jadis, leader of the Garbage Kids group (“trash children” in French) played by Pollyanna McIntosh who played a key role in the disappearance of Rick Grimes.
His appearance has shed some light on what has become of Rick Grimes, although we will not know the end of the story until the release of the film which will be dedicated to him; or the presence of the sheriff and Jadis, the presence of Michone (part of walking dead in the course of season 10) is also hoped for by the fans.
