Our favorite places in East London to walk, run, cycle, presented in partnership with Apple Watch
This time of year we would normally go overseas for a summer vacation, but there wasn’t much normalcy around 2020 so we stay put and spend our time exploring all parts of London that we don’t see often enough. . When you live in a city as big and diverse as this, there is always something new to discover and we wear Apple Watch to guide us – even LOTI needs a helping hand to navigate London from time to time. in time!
WALK | HACKNEY WICK
We’re no strangers to Hackney Wick, but the area has changed so much over the past few years making it harder to navigate the eye – the Lord Napier, aka the graffiti covered building by the old entrance to the Overground, is still there. it is therefore a benchmark on which we can count. Fortunately, Apple Maps on Apple Watch guides us from A to B and allows us to search for places nearby, which is very useful when we want to stop for a drink but there is no space to sit outside Crate.
RUN | REGENT’S CANAL AND VICTORIA PARK
LOTI HQ is in London Fields so if we are in a rush in the middle of the day we like to head to Broadway Market to the canal, make our way to Victoria Park and take a ride east and the west. sides if we have time. Obviously, Apple Watch helps us keep track of the time, but we’ve customized the complications on our watch face to show our favorite apps, including Nike Run Club, calendar, weather, and activity rings in the same view so we have everything we need in one place and we won’t be late for our afternoon meeting.
CYCLE | LEA RIVER
The River Lea runs from Bedfordshire to the Thames, but there is a ten mile loop in the Lower Lea Valley from the Olympic Park, past the Hackney Marshes and towards the Walthamstow Wetlands and back, which we like. Since we just have to follow the river and not worry about the route, we like to switch to our AirPods Pro and listen to a podcast on Apple Watch. AirPods are sweat and water resistant so they don’t go anywhere no matter how fast we are driving and with the transparency mode we can listen to David talk about the planet and still be aware of what’s going on. is happening around us.
Apple Watch Series 5 is available on apple.com, from £ 399.
