Venom 2 trailer: Tom Hardy confronts Woody Harrelson in the sequel

Three years after the success of the first opus, Venom is back in the guise of Tom Hardy. And in view of the unveiled trailer, he will have to deal with his split personality and a formidable enemy: Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson.

Like many superheroes, even though it oscillates between Good and Evil, Venom had to postpone its return to theaters because of the coronavirus pandemic that turned Hollywood calendars upside down in 2020. Hopefully, we will find it on October 20 in France, with a sequel that is revealed in pictures.

Three years after the success of the first opus, which had garnered 856 million dollars in receipts worldwide, Andy Serkis succeeds Ruben Fleischer behind the camera. And the ex-interpreter of Gollum seems ideal for these sequences on which the trailer first emphasizes, and where two personalities must cohabit: Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and the symbiote of extraterrestrial origin which causes him to transform into Venom.

Already very present in 2018, humor seems more assumed here. But the chaos will also come from the big bad, teased in the post-credits scene of the first opus: Cletus Kasady, alias Carnage. Played by Woody Harrelson, this serial killer will also, like Eddie, see his DNA merge with a symbiote.

Unlike Venom, who refuses to take on the innocent, Carnage seems to live only to kill. And the trailer for the film, whose title bears his name, reveals his monstrous appearance. While leaving out of sight the damage it will cause.

Sony Pictures

Co-written by Todd McFarlane, who drew Venom’s first comic book appearance, Let There Be Carnage will have a second antagonist in the person of Shriek, played by Naomie Harris, who is seen briefly.

Also announced in the casting, after participating in the first part, Michelle Williams is however absent from these images, and the mystery around her involvement in the story remains unclear.

Rendezvous, at the latest, on October 20 to find her in this universe, while links with Spider-Man are to be expected. Like this copy of the Daily Bugle held by the character played by Stephen Graham in the trailer. Have you noticed any other details of this ilk, when a poster full of teeth was also unveiled?
