Mattel Films and rapper Lil Yatchy are currently developing a film based on the Uno card game. This would be a heist movie set in Atlanta in the hip-hop world.
After the announcement of a film dedicated to the Rubik’s Cube, Hollywood continues to surprise us with a film adapted from the card game Uno. Mattel Films will indeed produce a feature film inspired by the board game – which turns 50 this year. It should be a heist film set in the hip-hop world of Atlanta.
Rapper Lil Yachty is expected to star in this film written by Marcy Kelly. Asked by Variety, the interpreter of Broccoli and iSpy says: “I used to play Uno as a kid and still do today, so turning that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came from is really special to me.. “
For his part Robbie Brenner from Mattel Films underlines: “At Mattel Films, we seek to explore stories that bring our brands to life in unexpected ways. Uno is a game that cuts across generations and cultures and we look forward to partnering with Lil Yachty to turn the classic Uno game into a funny action adventure. ”
As a reminder, the company – launched in September 2018 – is developing several films inspired by their toys: Barbie, Hot Wheels, American girls or even Thomas and his friends.
