Florent decides to defend Colette Genton
Scratched and publicly humiliated by the prosecutor because of his articles and his speculations in the context of the case related to the various witnesses to the assault of Lila Marquants having died, Lucille feels guilty and thinks that his CDD at Midi Libre will go fall in the water. But her editor reassures her: it’s normal to make mistakes when you start. And he is just as responsible as she for what happened since he validated all his articles.
He therefore decides to keep it because, for him, Lucille has a real quality: passion. And he ends up finding the idea for the young woman’s next article by thinking of the case of Colette Genton: how can a woman be beaten by her husband for 20 years without anyone coming to her aid?
At the police station, Alex explains to Becker that, according to the psychiatrist’s report, Colette Genton was totally unsociable. The only person she saw was her husband. Her relationship to reality then weakened and she ended up losing her footing. Telling herself that the only way to end her ordeal was to kill her husband. But the expert does not recognize any alteration in his judgment. Colette Genton meticulously prepared the assassination of her husband and acted in full possession of her means. Which means she risks spending the rest of her life in prison.
Touched by the story of this woman, Becker asks Florent to defend Colette Genton during her trial. Florent does not take long to obtain a parlor with Colette and promises her that he will try to convince the jurors that she had extenuating circumstances. Because she lived through hell for years and ultimately it was her or her husband. Florent would like his sentence to be as light as possible and finally convince Colette to try. Even if the latter thinks he is wasting his time.
David starts a new life
David, the nurse involved in the witness case, confesses to Claire that he told his wife, Rose, the whole truth and that he left her. According to him, she reacted tremendously and told him that all she wanted was for him to be happy and live his life to the fullest. Even if, deep down, she is obviously devastated. For Claire, David did the right thing. He could not continue to lie to his wife who would inevitably have ended up discovering that he was seeing men in secret.
Thierry and Akim’s patrol turns to tragedy
At Becker’s request, Yann instructs Thierry Valois to patrol the Gambetta district, where several damage to vehicles has been reported. Thierry thinks it’s a waste of time but Yann asks him to obey orders and reminds him that it is important to reassure the population.
The patrol of Thierry and Akim in the district in question is not easy. They first come across a dealer whom they recently arrested and who has already been released on bail, which puts Thierry beside himself. Then they set off in vain in pursuit of a young thug who was trying to steal a car and which they end up losing sight of.
Continuing their tour of the neighborhood, the two policemen see Abou, a young man of African origin who sells objects on the sly, and ask him if he has an authorization to sell on the public highway. The young man then looks at them, smiling. Akim thinks he just doesn’t understand, while Yann feels that if he doesn’t understand French, he has nothing to do in France. He then asks for his identity papers, but the young man prefers to flee. Akim and Thierry set off in pursuit of him and end up separating.
As he continues to run, Akim hears a scream. He finds Thierry a little further away and sees Abou on the ground, lying in front of Thierry’s feet. Blood is flowing from his head. Akim asks Thierry to give him his cell phone in order to call the fire department. Thierry swears that Abou fell down the stairs but does not seem serene. Akim tries to know if Abou hears him but the latter does not respond and his eyelids close.
