Florent’s client is indicted
In Florent’s office, Aurore, Philippe Verneuil’s daughter. She gets angry with her lawyer and assures him that her father has nothing to do with the drugs discovered in the delivery truck. Florent tries to reassure her by telling her that the driver of the vehicle in question risks a heavy sentence and could be the only one to be condemned.
Meanwhile, Becker and his team audition Carole Martinez, the entrepreneur’s assistant, who has worked for him for more than ten years. Initially reluctant to testify, she ends up admitting to the investigators that she discovered a large envelope of cash in her boss’s office. When she tried to talk to him about it, he, who was never rude to her, immediately got angry and reproached her for having rummaged through her belongings.
Following this testimony, Philippe Verneuil is then confronted with his assistant. He completely denies and accuses Carole of having invented this story about the envelope. He then suspects her of wanting revenge. Elise asks him to explain what he is referring to, and Verneuil declares that following the death of his wife, his assistant made advances to him which he refused. Carole admits the facts, but insists that her testimony about the envelope is completely unrelated.
Florent argues that no other witness can confirm having seen the famous envelope apart from Mr. Verneuil’s assistant, there is no way to prove what she is saying. He was then summoned to Judge Alphand’s office with his client after the driver of the vehicle said that Verneuil had given him 30,000 euros in cash to carry out the transport of goods.
For her, the testimony of Ms. Martinez is proof that Verneuil bought the silence of the driver to transport the ton of hashish. Florent tries to defend his client: according to him, dealers could just as well have carried out the transaction directly with the carrier. But after the testimony of his assistance, the judge does not give any credit to this hypothesis and places Mr. Verneuil in pre-trial detention.
While Florent tries to reassure his client and promises to do everything to get him out of there, Philippe asks him to take care of his daughter Aurore, worried about the future of their business. Florent, who has known her since childhood, accepts.
In the evening, while Carole Martinez is walking down the street, she realizes that she is being followed by a motorcycle. Suddenly, the biker shoots in his direction before fleeing…
