Every day, find the program of films and series to see on TV. Today: a monstrous hotel, one of the jewels of screwball comedy, a 4-star adventure film, a turning comedy and Patrick Swayze as a surfer.
Hôtel Transylvanie by Genndy Tartakovsky (TF1, 9:05 p.m.): “If its scenario is a little too marked, Hôtel Transylvanie is a high-end animated film whose gently gloomy universe has been designed with the greatest care. The appearances of characters all more crazy than the others are linked in this gigantic Dracula hotel for our greatest pleasure. ” Laurent Schenck
Howard Hawks’ The Impossible Monsieur Bébé with Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn (Ciné + Classic, 4:50 p.m.): “This film by master Howard Hawks is one of the jewels of screwball comedy, a genre peculiar to the golden age of Hollywood. It contains all that makes the salt of this register: misunderstandings, lawsuits, nonsense of situations, undeniable sense of rhythm, eccentricity of the characters, dynamism of the narrative and dialogues declaimed with lively force. Admittedly, such an excitement in style is today a little dated, but the charm still operates as much thanks to the interpretation full of freshness of unforgettable Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. ” Guillaume Martin
The Paths of Freedom by Peter Weir with Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris (Cine + Frisson, 6:05 p.m.): “An epic as we are no longer too used to seeing, with a 4-star cast (Ed Harris, Colin Farrell, etc.), magnificent natural settings and an ode to freedom of the most overwhelming. Finally a first degree adventure film that takes us to the guts! ” Laurent Schenck
Brett Ratner’s Central Park Break with Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy (RTL9, 5 p.m.): “With a completely classic narrative scheme and a somewhat silly morality, Le Casse de Central Park is far from being missed. A good dose of humor and a group of endearing characters are enough to have a great time. Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck and John Cusack – a rather classy cast – are all different characters and rather clichés but the whole works very well. It is certainly not the best turning film but it still holds all promises and offers a rather unexpected end. ” Caroline Langlois
Point Break extreme limit by Kathryn Bigelow with Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves (RTL9, 6:50 pm): “Arising from a blessed era when the detective film knew how to marry universes as diverse as eroticism (” Basic Instinct “), comedy (” Lethal Weapon “) or here sport, this monument of culture surfing allowed Kathryn Bigelow to hone her action skills, with the help of two actors – Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze – at the top of their cool and sexy attitude. ” Guillaume Martin
