Top 15 series we can’t wait to see in 2022

As you will have noticed, 2021 was a very good year for the playoffs. But is it possible to hope for even better than the best series of 2021? We hope so, and we will have the answer over the next 12 months. While waiting to find out if the deliveries of our favorite platforms are of quality, here is a small not very exhaustive list of the series that we are too eager to watch in 2022.

1. Game of Thrones: House of dragons (Q1 2022 on OCS)

Necessarily, Game Of Thrones was such a huge event that we are expecting a lot from its upcoming spin-off. FYI, GoT’s little sister will be centered around House Targaryen and a civil war that occurred roughly 200 years before the adventures of Jon Snow and company. It promises to be grandiose, simply because after Game Of Thrones guys don’t have the right to miss each other.

2. The Lord of the Rings (September 21, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video)

Long awaited for a long time by fans of Tolkien, the series The Lord of the Rings will point the tip of his nose at the start of September. It’s still a long time, yes. It should still be noted that the series will not take up the plot of Peter Jackson’s films at all since it will tell the story of the creation of the rings which took place 3000 years earlier. As much to say to you that one is too anxious to know more and to discover the episodes of this first season which cost the modest sum of 500 million dollars. With so much money, they can make great things out of it.

3. Funny (in 2022 on Netflix)

After having smashed it all with Ten percent who opened the doors of acting agencies to us, showrunner Fanny Herrero decided to send us behind the scenes of the stand-up. Funny will follow the course of comedians and that promises to be quite faithful to reality since a lot of real stand-uppers have been consultants on the series. It should be funny too normally. You will have read it here: Funny will be a hit.

4. Vikings: Valhalla (February 25, 2022 on Netflix)

We’re back in high testosterone with this spin-off from Vikings which, for once, will not take place before but well 100 years after the original story. Always with Michael Hirst at the helm (well, behind the camera), we will therefore discover new characters including this guy from William the Conqueror. It promises to be very heavy.

5. The Last of Us (2022 on OCS)

The Last of Us is one of the best video games in video game history, so its adaptation to the screen is well deserved, especially since its narrative is excellent. So we will soon be able to follow Joel and Ellie’s journey. A not quite ideal trip since it will cross the United States affected by a fungus that transforms humans into zombies. It’s going to be stressful.

6. Severance (February 18, 2022 on Apple TV +)

We are quite intrigued by the scenario of Ben Stiller’s new baby: in an American company, employees agree to undergo cosmetic surgery which will separate their memory from work and memories of their private life. It’s quite twisted, and the trailer is rather crossed out, so we will necessarily watch Severance to see what the show has in the belly.

7. Wednesday (end of 2022 on Netflix)

Tim Burton who directs a series, we don’t see that every four mornings. In fact, if we put aside the cartoon Beetlejuice, we’ve never seen that. This is already a good reason to wait Wednesday (the series, not the day) impatiently. The second reason is that the show will center on Wednesday Addams from the Addams family, a subject tailored for Burton’s style. If he messes around about it, we won’t understand.

8. Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022 on Disney +)

If Star Wars fans had been told 15 years ago that they would one day get a big budget Obi-Wan series with Ewan McGregor in the title role, they probably would have suffered cardiac arrest. Today, we know what Disney is capable of so nothing surprises us anymore, but we’re still super excited to see it. The action will take place 10 years after Episode III, so we should learn a lot of new things about what happened between the prelogy and the trilogy. THE KIFF.

9. La Corde (January 27, 2022 on Arte)

There had to be a UFO in this top, so there you go The rope, a French series which will very soon land on Arte (therefore visible for free). The starting point is simple: scientists in Norway fall on a rope that goes deep into the forest. One group decides to take it back up to find out where it leads while the other stays where it is. The rest is mysteries, deaths and lots of creepy stuff if we believe the trailer. If you’re not allergic to French acting, there’s a way it’s not bad at all.

10. Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (in 2022 on Netflix)

Anyone who has ever heard of Jeffrey Dahmer (whose journey you were told to make the top cannibalistic serial killer) knows the guy is one of the worst monsters the world has ever carried. As a result, we have absolutely no doubt that the series Monster, based on his life, will be a huge success. In addition, he is the creator ofAmerican Horror Story who sticks to it and we find his friend Evan Peters in the role of the killer. We really do not worry about the quality of the thing.

The new seasons

11. Euphoria Season 2 (January 10, 2022 on OCS)

Euphoria it was the best surprise of 2019 (with Sex Education, okay). Finally we were entitled to a series for teenagers a little more adult and a little more connected with the times. Everything was exceptional: Zendaya, the other actors, the music, the colors, the subject matter… In short, we clearly fell in love with this series, and the long awaited season 2 is finally coming out in a few days. We should not be offered a drink on January 10, we will already be taken.

12. Ozark Season 4 (January 21, 2022 on Netflix)

What everyone initially took for a ” breaking Bad less well ”ended up taking off after 2 or 3 seasons. The last one ends in any case on a cliffhanger of sick and, since, all the fans ofOzark are very feverish. Their release is fast approaching.

13. Squid Game Season 2 (November 9, 2022 on Netflix)

Faced with the titanic success of Squid Game, Netflix had no choice but to get back on track for a season 2. The creator of the series was not at all keen to write a sequel in the next few years, but a good big check must have convinced him to get back to work. Now we’re all in wait: season 2 of Squid Game will it live up to the first? We are promised in any case that it will be even darker. Apparently it is possible.

14. Peaky Blinders Season 6 (Spring 2022 on Netflix)

Almost three years after season 5, Peaky blinders returns for a sixth and final season. Three years waiting to see if Thomas Shelby will pull the trigger of the gun pointed at his temple, three years waiting to know if the Peakys will finally kill Oswald Mosley, three years waiting to listen to again the crazy soundtrack of this series… PLEASE MAKE THE TIME GOING QUICKER.

15. Le Flambeau (La Flamme Season 2) (2022 on Canal +)

At the end of 2020, Jonathan Cohen, Jérémie Galan and the brilliant Florent Bernard (who presents the no less brilliant podcast Floodcast) gave us the entertainment we all needed: The flame. And if the series parodied the Bachelor, its “sequel” will rather play with the codes of Koh-Lanta, hence its name change to “Le Flambeau”. The cast will still be 12 stars and the valves will surely be just as good, so we will necessarily rush on it when it comes out. Until then, don’t forget to ask Kad Mérad for the Canal codes, as tradition dictates.
