Top 10 things you probably didn’t know about Anna Delvey

We told you about it a long time ago, Inventing Anna was one of the most anticipated series of 2021. Finally, the program on one of the biggest scammers in history did not show up until 2022, but it is still the expected card. So I won’t dwell on the production (which doesn’t break a duck’s three legs), but I can only advise you to go see it if you want to discover a story that is both true and completely crazy. Now, for those who have seen it, I really want to talk to you about a lot of crazy things that the series does not mention about Anna Sorokin/Delvey. Because yes, there are still a lot of crisp details to reveal on this case. Of course, don’t do this at home.

1. Anna Delvey made it look like her accountant was dead

Anna Delvey was dealing with a lawyer who was supposed to verify her capital to enable her to secure a multi-million dollar loan. She had put him in touch with a certain Peter W. Hennecke, supposed to be his accountant in Germany. Peter W. Hennecke was Anna’s invention: she used a German number online and changed her voice to impersonate her own adviser. All of this is true and shown in the series, but what we don’t see in Inventing Anna, is that the scammer made believe that Peter W. Hennecke was dead when she found herself up against the wall and that strong suspicions hovered over the existence of her fortune in Germany. She preferred to “kill” the character of the accountant rather than tell the truth to her interlocutors.

2. After the (false) death of Peter Hennecke, Anna invented another accountant

This time it was a certain Bettina Wagner, as fictitious as Peter Hennecke. To avoid getting caught, Anna Delvey would have done Google searches of the type: “send false e-mails not found”. Like what even the big scammers find themselves like idiots googling to find solutions.

3. The DA who sent the Wolf of Wall Street to jail is the same guy who put Anna Delvey and Andy Lance in touch.

Well, I’m afraid of losing you, so we’re going step by step:

– Andy Lance is the one we know as Alan Reed in the series. He’s the lawyer who thought Anna Delvey had money in Germany. He helped her file her case for millions of dollars from the Fortress Investment Group bank (which she never got).

– Joel Cohen was the prosecutor who prosecuted Jordan Belfort, the “Wolf of Wall Street” played by DiCaprio in the Scorsese film. Afterwards he quit his job as a prosecutor to work at Gibson Dunn, the real estate law firm where Andy Lance worked.

– So Joel Cohen and Andy Lance became friends, and it was Joel Cohen who once advised Anna Delvey to turn to Andy Lance to apply for a loan. Unknowingly, the guy who had chased one of the biggest financial scammers finally helped another scammer. It’s stupid.

4. Andy Lance wrote his emails in Comic Sans

As if this story wasn’t ridiculous enough, Andy Lance (renamed Alan Reed in the series) sent emails written in Comic Sans to the bank Fortress Investment Group to tell them that Anna Delvey had the necessary funds in Germany to get a big loan. Comic Sans is probably the most unprofessional typeface of all typefaces, and yet the guy, who was a big real estate lawyer, used it. It’s incredible.

5. Coach Kacy Duke works with very large clients.

In the series, we know that Kacy Duke, one of Anna Delvey’s friends, is a sports coach for wealthy clients, but we do not know their identity. Well imagine that, in real life, Kacy Duke has trained stars like Lenny Kravitz, Gwen Stefani, Dakota Johnson, Julianne Moore or Denzel Washington. It’s really not anyone. By the way, well done to her not to have been fooled too much by Anna Delvey, she’s a real pro.

6. Anna Delvey offered to give up her ex’s real name for at least $10,000

Since leaving prison, Anna Sorokin has taken over her life from Anna Delvey, especially through Instagram. A few days ago, she even used her account to offer to give the highest bidder the name of her ex, named “Chase” in the series. Bidding started at $10,000, but it’s unlikely anyone made money from Anna since…

7. …we would know the real identity of “Chase”, who would actually be a certain Hunter Lee Soik

In the series, Chase, who dated Anna for a year or two, is an entrepreneur who does TED-Talks in an attempt to sell a futuristic app. If he doesn’t exist, we know that the character is based on a real person. And several sources would have revealed that this person was none other than Hunter Lee Soik, a real entrepreneur who was also working on an app around dreams and who finally gave up to go work in the Emirates. Anna and him would have rubbed shoulders between 2015 and 2016 and he would have introduced her to a whole bunch of people from high society.

8. Fyre Festival’s Billy McFarland wanted Anna Delvey to stop squatting at his house.

Also in the series, we see that Anna Delvey slept for a while with Billy McFarland, known for having created the Fyre Festival, this festival which went wrong and which led him to prison. In reality, this meeting actually took place. Anna had asked Billy if she could squat for a few nights in the headquarters of his payment card company, which he had agreed to. Except Anna had settled in very well and Billy couldn’t get her to leave. She finally left when Billy had his entire headquarters moved. According to him, it was the only way to get her to leave. A real pot of glue the girl.

9. Anna scolded Neff about the Lil Wayne album.

Remember this scene from the series (which really existed): Anna had invited her friend Neff, concierge of the 11 Howard hotel, to a dinner where Martin Shkreli was present. The most hated man in the world then had the guests listen to the album Tha Carter V of Lil Wayne that hadn’t been released yet. What the show doesn’t mention is that, following that party, Neff couldn’t help but tweet that she heard Lil Wayne’s album in the party. Anna pissed her off for 3 days for that.

10. The real stylist who dressed Anna during her trial dressed big stars

Anna Delvey did hire a stylist to dress her during her trial, but contrary to what the show says, it wasn’t a friend of Neff’s. The real stylist was Anastasia Walker, who took care of Madonna, Courtney Love, Zoey Deutch and even Sydney Sweeney, the actress ofEuphoria. Again, she didn’t call on just anyone.
