Each year, the ranking of airports that offer the most beautiful views seen from the air lands on our screens. Well, we are not going to lie to each other, what is beautiful seen from above, is generally not too gross once the foot is on solid ground. Here are the 10 destinations that alone deserve a window seat.
1. Land at Donegal Airport in Ireland
Table of Contents
Donegal’s airstrip looks like a golf course, with beaches on either side as bunkers, and the ocean as the natural backdrop. All you have to do is imagine that you are a golf ball and that you are about to fall on the green. As long as the guy in charge hasn’t messed up his swing too much!
2. Landing on the Msembe Airstrip in Tanzania
The only air access route to access Ruaha National Park in the Iringa region, the Msembe track is the royal route for a stay at Beauval Zoo but much better!
3. Land at Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport on Skiathos Island
Close to the beach and the road, this airstrip is known to be a selfie spot for vacationers looking for likes and thrills. But seen from above, it’s not bad either. Blue ocean as far as the eye can see, heavenly beaches and their undulating yachts to the rhythm of the waves. And all over there, at the foot of the track, these little creatures gesticulating with their arms raised to welcome you.
4. Land at Orlando-Melbourne International Airport in Florida
Not bad at all this aerial view of the surroundings of Orlando! Depending on the approach direction of your plane, you will fly over the Atlantic coast and its postcard beaches, pass over the skyscrapers of the City, or tame the wildlife that inhabits the surrounding Everglades. With a bit of luck, you will also dream of weightlessness when you see the Kennedy Space Center and its Cape Canaveral in the distance. A nice introduction to Florida before a soft landing in the country of Mc Donald Trump.
5. Land on the runway at Barra Island Airfield in Scotland
It’s the only place in the world where planes can land directly on the beach… but only at low tide, unless you’re on a seaplane! Not very convenient, which is why it’s one of the most dangerous airports in the world. The airstrip is also popular with seashell collectors, who are strongly advised to check before any aircraft are approaching.
6. Land at Bora Bora’s Motu Mute Airport
The descent to Bora Bora airport announces the color, that of a landscape straight out of an ad for Tahiti douche, or one of the most beautiful Windows XP wallpapers. Perhaps the best memory you will keep of your Polynesian stay.
7. Land at Saba Island Airport in the Caribbean
Accessible from the islands of Saint-Martin and Saint-Eustache, the only runway of this airport is reserved for propeller cuckoo clocks and their pilots with large bouboules. The object of the game is to succeed in landing (or taking off) on this 396 meter long runway, located on the mountainside with the sea below. The reward is a postcard panorama, but only if you keep your eyes peeled during the approach.
8. Land at Princess Juliana International Airport on the island of Saint Martin
This track is located on the edge of Moha Beach and each plane landing is worth all the mistral in the world (plus the noise). From the cockpit, the view isn’t bad either. The proof with this camera fixed on the pilot’s windshield, right next to the deodorant tree.
9. Land at Praslin Airport in the Seychelles
Accessible only to small twin-engine aircraft, the only runway at Praslin airport strikes the spirits with a memorable entrance. Shaken by the trade winds, travelers riveted to the portholes of the aircraft, first fly over this huge wave pool with bluish shades, before landing on the verdant island of Praslin.
10. Land at Dubai International Airport
The guys who worked on the layout of Dubai overdid the size of the beach a bit. The sand is nice, but as far as the eye can see, it quickly becomes sad. Fortunately, the sea in the background and especially the sprawling city and its buildings planted in the middle of this huge sandpit, offer a spectacular panorama seen from the plane.
