Top 10 mistakes spotted in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 1000 points for…

It’s sunny, skies and blue and more importantly, it’s time for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! It is one of the best Harry Potter films in the saga (the only one nominated for an Oscar) but also the one with the best lines of Albus Dumbledore, the one who falls from the tower. Because we don’t change a team that has good old habits (or something like that), we end up for the false connections of Harry Potter. If you haven’t followed, we’ve already made the mistakes in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the mismatches in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and even in the other films that aren’t as good, it’s a matter of getting on the page.

1. The mystery of the dentist

During a meeting of the Slug Club, the elitist group created by Professor Slughorn, Hermione explains to students born into a family of wizards the profession of dentistry because this profession does not exist in the wizarding world. However, when Harry visits the Weasley house in the second film, we can see on the family clock a box “at the dentist”.

2. The book on page 10

During Professor Slughorn’s lesson, students must learn how to create a potion of Living Death. The professor specifies that the instructions for making the potion are on page 10 of the manual. Yet, in the following scenes, we can clearly see that Hermione has her book half open, probably around page 200 at least.

3. Slughorn’s Glass

After Aragog’s funeral, Harry goes to Hagrid’s with Slughorn and the two adults drink until they are drunk. When Hagrid falls asleep, Slughorn’s glass suddenly changes places while it was right in front of him.

4. Hermione Teleports

During potions class, before the students sit down in front of their cauldron, Hermione stands in front of Harry. On the wide shot just after, she arrives as if by magic (it’s the case to say it lol) right next to him. Then, she is again in front of him without having made the slightest movement.

5. Hermione and the Diary

In the great hall, before the Quidditch match with Ron as goalkeeper for the Gryffindor team, the three friends are sitting at the table and talking. Hermione has a diary in her hand, but each time the plan changes, the diary shifts. It’s in his hands first, then on the table with Hermione’s hands resting on it, then back in his hands.

6. The Lavender Brown Change

Three different actresses have played the role of Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter saga: Kathleen Cauley in The Chamber of Secrets, Jennifer Smith in The Prisoner of Azkaban and Jessie Cave in the last three films. As the character only appeared as an extra in the early films, no actress was officially cast for the role until the sixth film. Character names were mainly given to extras to help them find their way around during filming.

7. Harry small or Dumbledore too big

When Harry and Dumbledore arrive at Slughorn’s home at the start of the film, we can see in the back shot that Harry looks small: he is barely taller than Dumbledore’s shoulders. In the next shot, seen from the front and closer, Harry is a head taller.

8. Slughorn the Creepy

While Harry, Ron and Hermione are having a good time at the Three Broomsticks bar in Hogsmeade, Slughorn comes to get them drunk by typing the chat. We then notice that the foam from Slughorn’s beer disappears and then reappears in his mug according to the plans. Another oddity, when the professor spills beer on the table, the latter is already dry on the next shot. Finally, we can see that the quantity of butterbeer in the glasses of the characters is not logical: Hermione’s glass is filled again when she has just drunk from it.

9. Train Tracks

At the start of the film, Harry is posed in a restaurant when he sees Dumbledore appear on the other side of the train tracks, in front of a “Divine Magic” billboard. On the next shot, we see Harry going down the stairs of the station to join Dumbledore but the billboard is now on the other side of the tracks.

10. The Weasley Brothers Shop

On the front of the Weasley’s store in Diagon Alley, we can see in the close-up that it says “Masterpieces of Modern Magical Mayhem” under the giant head. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione exit the store, the inscriptions have disappeared from the store.
