Tic et Tac on Disney+: did you like Roger Rabbit? You will love ! – Cinema news

A tribute to “Roger Rabbit” and the animated series “Risk Rangers”, the new “Tic et Tac” film available on Disney+ is a real nugget not to be missed under any circumstances. Here’s why we loved it!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT ?

Nowadays, Tic and Tac evolve as much in the world of animation as in that of humans. Since the deprogramming of the series of which they were the heroes, their lives have taken diametrically opposite directions. Tic has converted into an insurance representative and leads an ordinary existence in a residential suburb.

Conversely, Tac has undergone medical surgery and performs at galas and conventions steeped in nostalgia, where he tries in vain to recapture his past glory. When one of their former adventure partner mysteriously disappears, Tic and Tac have no other solution than to reconnect with their past friendship and take back their detective hats to go to his rescue…

WHO IS IT WITH?

In the original version, these are John Mulaney and Andy Samberg who lend their voices to Tic et Tac. The first, a very popular humorist in the United States, is a former author of Saturday Night Live, very active in the world of dubbing since he had notably lent his voice to Spider-Pig in the film Spider-Man Next Generationas well as several characters from the Netflix series Big Mouth.

Better known to the general public, thanks in particular to the police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg is also a former Saturday Night Live. A specialist in parody and schoolboy humor, the latter notably lent his voice to Jonathan, the human hero of the saga. Hotel Transylvania.

WELL WORTH A LOOK ?

Surfing on the wave of reboots and multiverses, Tic et Tac return to us in a meta film, a sort of Roger Rabbit 2.0 designed as both a love letter to the cult animated series The Risk Rangers and as a scathing critic of the Hollywood industry. Should we expect less from director Akiva Schaffer (author of the hilarious parody biopic Popstar: Famous at all costs), a former member of Lonely Island with Andy Samberg at SNL.

In this world mixing real people and cartoon heroes (like Roger Rabbit), Tic and Tac are two former glories of television, whose collaboration was abruptly interrupted following Tac’s decision to start a solo career.

Become a former glory, the latter does not manage to rekindle the flame of his career, and is forced to hide in conventions in the company in particular of the “Failed Sonic” (in reference original design of the blue hedgehog in the film adaptation sonic the movie). For his part, Tic put his acting profession behind him to start a career as an insurance salesman.

Tic et Tac, les Rangers du risque: the film is not strictly speaking a reboot, but a film above all addressed to the fans of the first hour of the two characters. Whether you are a nostalgic viewer of the animated series of the 90s, or a fan of Saturday Night Live humor, this film is made for you!

But let parents be reassured! Despite numerous private jokes and other inside jokes, the often double-sided humor never falls into the trap of vulgarity. If the children may not understand everything (starting with Tac’s computer-generated make-over, or even the rivalry between the two heroes and the Chipmunks), Tic et Tac, les Rangers du risque: the film is a feature film that easily enters the family entertainment box.

Inventive, irreverent and exceptionally funny, Tic et Tac, les Rangers du risque: the film is a real success, coupled with a film that is deeper than it seems. It would be a shame to sulk your pleasure in front of this nugget, where the most improbable cameos are linked together but also excerpts and posters of hilarious fake parody films (Aunt-Man, the superhero appreciated by aunts, or the improbable crossover Batman vs. ET).
