This Curvy Wooden Chair Sits on Two Legs and A Ponytail

Whenever someone talks of a chair, my mind draws an image of four-legged wooden furniture. I am an old-school person and have seen more wooden stuff than modern-day chairs made of metal pieces. Even with wooden chairs, I’d largely think of traditional furniture with a flat armrest and backrest. But modern-day designers are here to change that perception of how one pursues a chair, and Gis is a classic example of it.

Gis chair is designed by Sepehr Mehrdadfar a member of Hamoun, a group of young passionate Iranian artists. Mehrdadfar derived a girl’s ponytail as the main inspiration behind the design. The word ‘Gis’ means a curve or the tumble of a woman’s hair what in Farsi.

Unlike any traditional furniture with four straight legs, Gis is rather poised on three curvy legs with bronze feet. The wooden chair is carved out from two walnut logs with live cracks that give it a stunning look.

The front legs of the chair are comparatively smaller than the back leg which is a unique design aspect of the chair. It looks comfortable due to its curvaceous design and a large backrest that can even be hugged for some warmth (not literally).
