According to Deadline, the filmmaker will direct for the first time Brendan Fraser, 52 years old today, and hero of The Mummy or George of the jungle in the years 90-2000, and whose career did not take the boom that one could to expect from the actor, due to health concerns and personal issues.

The Whale will be an adaptation of the play of the same name, written by Samuel D. Hunter. The plot focuses on a self-destructive, overweight man who spends his days locked up eating in his apartment. He will try to reconnect with his daughter, teenager and badly in his skin … The screenplay will be signed Samuel D. Hunter.

Like The Wrestler in 2008, another previous feature by Darren Aronofksy, which had helped revive Mickey Rourke (with Sin City), and being cited at the Oscars, The Whale could offer a similar opportunity to Brendan Fraser, quite discreet on the big screen in recent years.
