Since this Friday July 29, Netflix offers in its entirety the War Trilogy for Cybertron ; the animated series transformers, divided as its title suggests into three parts, traces the origins of the war between the Autobots and their iconic leader Optimus Prime against the Decepticons led by Megatron.

The series has several aspects that make it easier to view. The first advantage being that it only consists of three seasons of six episodes each: a total of 18 episodes. But it is also because it is not directly linked to any series or film that it remains accessible to any audience, fan or not of the license.

However, a knowledge of the universe transformers remains recommended: the trilogy of films by Michael Bay, or at least its first part, thus allows you to discover the mythology of the franchise, but also its main characters. The War Trilogy for Cybertron is a series that explores the origins of the Transformers on their home planet Cybertron. While it gives rise to many action scenes, it also does not hesitate to explore the conflict through the perspectives of the Autobots and Decepticons, thus bringing an unexpected depth to its plot.

Obviously focused above all on entertainment, War Trilogy for Cybertron is a series that lends itself as well to a binge-watch as to a more split viewing. Simple, but not simplistic, it also brings an unexpected point of view to this franchise, which is not limited to vulgar clashes between giant robots.

It also offers a political dimension. Plunged into the heart of an ideological conflict, the series questions the consequences of war, but also the price to pay to obtain peace: does the end of the conflict justify compromising one’s own freedom? History of resistance in the face of a form of totalitarian oppression, the war of the Autobots against the Decepticons seems to take on a whole new dimension here.
