Pathé has just unveiled the cast of the diptych Les Trois Mousquetaires directed by Martin Bourboulon. François Civil, Eva Green, Vincent Cassel and Romain Duris are part of the adventure.

Announced last November, the diptych dedicated to the Three Musketeers is taking shape. We already knew that the films respectively centered on D’Artagnan and Milady would be directed by Martin Bourboulon (Papa ou Maman, Eiffel), written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière (The First Name, Papa or Mum) and produced by Dimitri Rassam.
Pathé Films has just unveiled the 5-star cast of these major projects, as well Francois Civil will play D’Artagnan, Eva green will be Milady, Vincent Cassel will lend his features to Athos, Romain Duris will perform Aramis while Pio Marmai will be Porthos. Lyna khoudri will play Constance Bonacieux, Louis Garrel will slip into the skin of Louis XIII, the Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps will perform Queen Anne of Austria whileOliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Bly Manor) will be the Duke of Buckingham.
Shooting planned this summer
Shooting will start in the summer of 2021 and the shooting of the two films will be done simultaneously exclusively in France for a budget of 60 million euros. The release is scheduled for early 2023.
The writers specify that it will be a rereading of the work of Alexandre Dumas, which has already been adapted more than thirty times for cinema and television. After this diptych, Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte will continue to explore the work of the famous French author since the duo is also preparing a new adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo.
When announcing the projects, the writers announced to the French movie : “we must also rely on this type of work when the theaters reopen. These are large projects, which can make you dream and take you on a trip“.
