The speech trailer: benjamin lavernhe, comic and anguished hero for the director of petit nicolas - cinema news

After “Le Petit Nicolas” and “Asterix and Obelix: in the service of His Majesty”, Laurent Tirard tries his hand at a new adaptation with “Le Discours” by Fabcaro. This absurd comedy will be on view in theaters at the end of the year.

Two years after The Return of the Hero, director Laurent Tirard is back with his new comedy, Le Discours. We follow a young man, Adrien, who, in desperate expectation that his girlfriend will recontact him, finds himself entrusted with a heavy mission: to write a speech for the wedding of his sister and his future brother-in-law.

If this pitch seems familiar to you, it’s because it is taken from the novel of the same name by Fabrice Caro. Also known by the pseudonym Fabcaro, this French author stood out in 2015 with his comic strip Zaï zaï zaï zaï, sold 180,000 copies. A work also coveted by the cinema since an adaptation directed by François Desagnat, with Jean-Paul Rouve and Julie Depardieu, will soon see the light of day.

In Le Discours, Laurent Tirard brings together in front of his camera Benjamin Lavernhe, member of the Comédie-Française currently playing with Antoinette in the Cévennes, Sara Giraudeau, Kyan Khojandi and Julia Piaton. This trailer shows us that the film will have fun multiplying the digressions and regularly breaking the fourth wall by addressing the spectators directly. A process that we could already see in both previous teasers.

Selected at the last Cannes Film Festival, Le Discours will be released in theaters on December 16.
