Patria – Season 1 Drama

Produced by HBO Europe, this eight-part Spanish mini-series portrays a friendship threatened by the conflict that tore the Basque Country apart. 2010: the separatist organization ETA (Euskadi ta Askatasuna, or Basque Country in freedom) sounds the ceasefire, Bittori (Elena Irureta) can therefore return to the village where she lived and where her husband was assassinated by the terrorists. While determined to identify the culprits and confront her past, her former friend Miren (Ane Gabarain) faces her son’s conviction for terrorism. Beyond the crossed and broken fate of two families, Patria brings us back to the bloodiest hours of this conflict and tells how political fanaticism can tear lives.
