As explained during the announcement of this reboot, Bel-Air is based on the short film by Morgan Cooper – seen almost 7 million times on YouTube – which literally reinvented the sitcom led by Will Smith into a drama series. Peacock directly ordered two seasons in September 2020.
Located today, Bel-Air is described as the conversion of the sitcom into an hour-long drama per episode. The synopsis remains the same, the series will tell the complicated journey of Will from the streets of West Philadelphia to the very privileged district of Bel-Air.
Morgan Cooper is expected to participate in the series as a co-writer, director and executive producer. A nice journey for the one who launched this project with a simple short film of four minutes!
