Announced a few months ago, the appearance of Bo-Katan in season 2 of The Mandalorian has finally materialized in episode 3, available since Friday, November 12 on Disney +. It is the actress Katee Sackhoff, who already lent her voice to the character in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, who plays Bo-Katan. This Mandalorian warrior and her cronies save Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and the Child from certain death and from the trap set by the group of creatures Quarren.

The Mandalorian who was searching for other members of his community comes face to face with the last survivor of the Kryze clan, who fought during the Purge. She tells Din Djarin that he is a son of the Death Watch, a group of dissident Mandalorians who broke with Mandalorian society after attempting to overthrow Mandalore’s pacifist government. Later in the episode, it is understood that Bo-Katan is looking to retrieve the black lightsaber from the hands of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).

This eleventh chapter of The Mandalorian, entitled “The Heiress”, makes an important link with the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels series which have featured Bo-Katan in several episodes. Sister of Countess Satine Kryze, Bo-Katan left Death Watch after the group’s alliance with Darth Maul. She then confronted the Sith, who wanted to overthrow Mandalore, with Jedi Ahsoka Tano. After the Purge, Bo-Katan continues to fight to restore peace to Mandalore and saves the rebel and Mandalorian Sabine Wren, from House Vizla who originated the black lightsaber that Darth Maul recovered.

Sabine ends up taking back the black lightsaber and offering it to Bo-Katan, the rightful heir to the Mandalore throne. So how did Moff Gideon get his hands on the legendary weapon? The answer will surely be provided in the next episodes of season 2 of The Mandalorian, especially since the end of episode 3 opens on the future meeting between the Mandalorian and Ahsoka Tano, which will be played by Rosario Dawson.
