Please note, the following details the final episode of The Mandalorian season 2. If you have not yet seen it and do not want to know anything about its content, then it is strongly recommended that you stop reading this article.

Definitely, this second season of The Mandalorian will not have hesitated to lift the veil on a number of mysteries. After Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) appeared and Baby Yoda’s name – now known as Grogu – was revealed to fans of the Star Wars series wondering which Jedi was going to answer the call of the ‘Child who preceded his abduction by the tyrannical Moff Gideon. And while the craziest rumors hinted at several leads, one name was obvious: Luke Skywalker.

The iconic Jedi, hero of the original trilogy, indeed appeared in this season 2 finale, in the guise of its iconic performer Mark Hamill (although digitally rejuvenated, the action taking place a few years after The Return of the Jedi released in 1983). An appearance that should move more than one fan, both for its nostalgic and symbolic character. Armed with his green lightsaber, Luke eliminates Gideon’s troops, including the Dark Troopers, to take Grogu to follow his Jedi training alongside him.

The appearance of Luke Skywalker is all the more astonishing as Mark Hamill announced some time ago that he would never appear in the role of the Jedi again: “I had a beginning, a middle, and an end. These films gave me so much more than I ever hoped for when we started the adventure; so it never crosses my mind. [de revenir]. My goodbyes were in Star Wars Episode IX, and there was some bitterness. (…) There are still plenty of stories to tell, with many great actors and actresses, they don’t need me “ he declared on this subject last May to our colleagues inEntertainment Weekly.

Luke Skywalker in the final episode of The Mandalorian season 2

Could a series dedicated to Luke Skywalker and Grogu see the light of day soon, while eleven exclusive Star Wars content was announced this week by the Disney + platform? Unlikely, although the character will appear – in the guise of a new actor – as a child in the future series devoted to Obi-Wan Kenobi. This surprise appearance of the Jedi sounded like a final farewell, a gift to both fans and the actor, who had made no secret of his bitterness over the character’s turn in recent films.
