A first official synopsis of the series “Lord of the Rings”, expected this year on Amazon, confirmed the time during which the plot of the program will take place, but also the return of several “familiar” characters.
We don’t yet know its release date, but the Lord of the Rings series now has an official synopsis. The reference site TheOneRing.net has indeed exclusively unveiled the information, the opportunity to learn a little more about the chronology of this inevitably eagerly awaited production whose plot will take place several millennia before those of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies.
The full synopsis:
The series produced by Amazon Studios explores the untold story of the heroic legends of the legendary Second Age in Middle-earth history. This epic tale takes place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, and will immerse viewers in the heart of a time when great powers were born, glorious kingdoms sank into ruin, where unlikely heroes asserted their worth, where all hope rested on the most low in odds and where the greatest villain imagined by Tolkien threatened to spread his darkness over the entire world. Opening by a time of peace, the series follows several characters, both familiar and new, all united in their battle against the evil forces of Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the con end of the continent, these kingdoms and figures will build a legacy that will last for many generations. “
A summary which therefore confirms that the series will explore the origin of the rings of power designed by the sorcerer Sauron. Among the familiar characters evoked by this synopsis, several heroes from the previous trilogies are thus expected to cast the series, mainly elves such as Elrond (played in the films by Hugo Weaving) or Galadriel, who will appear younger in the guise of Swedish actress Morfydd Clark (His Dark Material). The plot of the Lord of the Rings series was imagined over five seasons by screenwriters JD Payne and Patrick McKay: the first two episodes of the program were directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).
Series Lord of the Rings will be offered in 2021 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
