Postponed because of the pandemic, season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale is finally revealed in an explosive teaser. June (Elisabeth Moss) launches hostilities against the leaders of Gilead’s totalitarian regime.
The rebellion against Gilead starts again. After the first images released last year, Hulu unveils the first official teaser for season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale, which had been postponed due to the pandemic. The new episodes of the Bruce Miller series, adapted from the novel by Margaret Atwood and carried by Elisabeth Moss, will therefore be available on April 28 on Hulu in the United States. For its part, OCS, broadcaster of the first three seasons of the series in France, has not yet communicated on the availability of season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale this year.
This fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale promises to be particularly powerful with a movement of resistance that is rising within Gilead with a June more determined than ever. To the music “You should see me in a crown” by Billie Eilish, the teaser for this new batch of episodes begins the beginning of a real war between the victims of the Gilead dictatorship and the leaders of this totalitarian government which debases women and oppresses minorities.
Elisabeth Moss took her first steps as a director by directing three episodes of this fourth season, the shooting of which was complicated to set up because of the pandemic. Showrunner Bruce Miller told Deadline than “tons of things had to be changed in the series” and that we had to deal with the availability of people, the administrative procedures with Canada, where the series was filmed, and strict sanitary measures. Note that The Handmaid’s Tale is already renewed for a fifth season.
