A sequel to the cult animated series “The Flintstones Family” is currently in the works in the United States. It is Elizabeth Banks (“Hunger Games”) who is at the origin of this project.
An animated sequel of The Flintstones Family, titled Bedrock, is currently in development for the American channel Fox. It is Elizabeth Banks who is at the origin of this project on which she has been working for more than two years with Warner Bros. Animation.
In this animated comedy for adults of which she is the producer, the actress of Hunger Games and Charlie’s Angels will also lend her voice to Nugget Flintstones, daughter of Fred and Wilma. While writing, we can find Lindsay Kerns, a screenwriter who recently worked on Jurassic World: La colo du Crétacé.
Bedrock follows the Flintstones family twenty years after the original cartoon. As Fred nears retirement, Pépite, who is now in his twenties, wants to embark on his own career. As the Stone Age gives way to the Bronze Age, the inhabitants of Bedrock will find it difficult to adapt to this new development …
Released on ABC in 1960, The Flintstones Family was the first animated series to air on prime time. Composed of 6 seasons and 166 episodes, it has already seen many adaptations, the most notable being the 1993 film starring John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Kyle MacLachlan and Rosie O’Donnell.
