The Distinct Design of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city known for many unique architectural wonders. From the tall Stratosphere tower to the High Roller observation wheel, Las Vegas features many intriguing buildings. Properties like Excalibur, Venetian, New York-New York, Paris, and Luxor bring to mind visions of many other places around the world.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is about to get yet another appealing work of architecture when Allegiant Stadium opens in August 2020.The stadium will be the home to the Las Vegas Raiders NFL football team, UNLV Rebels college football, and various other events throughout the year. There’s a possibility the venue could be the host to the Super Bowl or the Final Four in the future. The Las Vegas-based airline Allegiant sponsors the venue’s name.

But the architectural features of Allegiant Stadium make it a place of interest. It will cost nearly $2 billion for the stadium to be made and to look as distinct as it is.

A Distinct Roof

Allegiant Stadium will have a fixed roof, thus keeping the intense heat of Las Vegas from entering the stadium during play. A clear ETFE roof will be installed over the stadium. The roof will feature a series of light steel grids over the roof to produce an intriguing style. The wires will not produce shadows over the field of play, thus ensuring nothing distracting will come about during the sunniest days of the year.

A View of the Strip

Fans will get a view of the Las Vegas Strip from a retractable window in the northern end zone. The window will feature the same clear covering that the roof has. A curtain-like cover will go over that clear space on certain occasions, particularly when the light outside gets to be too intense.

The view will be from the southern end of the strip. The stadium will be to the west of Mandalay Bay on the other side of Interstate 15 and Dean Martin Drive.

Dynamic Scoreboards

One end of Allegiant Stadium will have a full-size video scoreboard. The other end will feature smaller curved scoreboards on the sides near the roof. The scoreboards will blend in with the architecture of the stadium, creating a vibrant appearance.

A Bright Flame

A large torch and flame will appear at one end of the stadium. The torch will be in honor of Al Davis, the former owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

A Unique Grass Turf Bed

The grass turf bed for athletic events at Allegiant Stadium is a design feature that is also intriguing. The grass turf will be situated on a roll-out bed that will enter in and out of the property for special events. The turf feature is similar to what is used at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the home of the Arizona Cardinals football team.

A Sleek Exterior

This all comes with an outstanding exterior that features a brilliant black and silver look. The building will be about ten stories tall and will feature various trees planted all around its outside.
