While “The Devil Wears Prada” is broadcast tonight on TF1, return to a cut scene for the least surprising which offers us another point of view on the tyrannical character of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).

What if the dreaded Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, wasn’t so tyrannical and intractable as she leads us to believe?

While David Frankel’s famous comedy is broadcast tonight on TF1, a look back at an unexpected sequence, which does not appear in the final cut of the film but which offers us a new look at the formidable editor-in-chief of Runway.

The scene takes place during the prestigious charity dinner which Andrea (played by Anne Hathaway) is forced to attend, which prevents her from spending the evening with her boyfriend. Right in the middle of this luxurious reception, which brings together all the top of the fashion world, Miranda Priestly’s husband suddenly bursts in, visibly well-watered, and begins to embarrass his wife in front of all the other guests.

While clearly disrespecting the president of the company that owns Runway magazine, Andrea reacts immediately and initiates a discussion with the latter, which allows Miranda to walk away with her husband. As she turns on her heels, the editor-in-chief turns and utters a very discreet “Thank you” to Andrea’s address.

A gesture of gratitude for which Miranda, often intractable with her employees, had absolutely not prepared us, and which therefore adds complexity to her character.

It remains to be seen whether such a scene really had a place in the film’s final cut. Would it have allowed to add an additional dimension to the character played by Meryl Streep, or would it have on the contrary demystified it, as some spectators seem to think? Give us your opinion in the comments.
