The sixth episode of The Boys’ third season, Herogasm contains a number of goofy sex scenes. But according to the Amazon series creator, other even crazier ideas had to be scrapped due to lack of time.
Available since last Friday on Prime Video, the episode of The Boys titled Herogasm after the name of the crazy orgy he staged had been teased for months. And more the broadcast was approachingthe more the team raised the impatience of the fans by promising one of the most risque sequences in the history of television.
Result, part of the public ended up being less shocked than expected by the orgy! But perhaps that would have been less the case if the production had had the time to carry out all the gags initially imagined for this sequence which will nevertheless remain in the annals of the small screen.
An abandoned running gag
Interviewed by TV Linethe showrunner of the series, Eric Kripkeindeed said: “We couldn’t do all the gags we wanted to do.” While assuring that it was purely a question of time and money, and not because Amazon considered them too risky.
“I remember at one point we were having a discussion about some kind of water creature, the type of the one in The Strange Creature from Black Lake, in the pool having sex underwater. We talked about it at some point, but I don’t think we could have made it.“, he then indicated.
And to continue:We wanted to make a running gag based on huge fire hoses spreading fluids. There had to be a woman spreading them all over Hughie. But we ran out of time, and so it all kind of came together in the gag about poor Mother’ Milk. [La Crème, en VF].”
Zoophilia, the only limit of Amazon
As he had already mentioned, Eric Kripke also returned to the fact that the only concerns of Amazon concerned a scene of zoophilia, that is to say when – on the sidelines of the orgy – The Deep grants itself a little moment of pleasure with… an octopus, of course! A scene that generated a lot of discussions between the creative team and the studio.
Amazon Studios
“For some crazy reason, the Department of Morals and Ethics has a policy against bestiality. They’re so stuck up, really”, first joked the screenwriter. Then specify:The discussion of this scene and how we made it set off a lot of alarm bells on a lot of different levels at Amazon because we’re not supposed to show people fucking animals, and I get that. .”
“But I always told them it was so absurd it would fit in a Farrelly Brothers movie. So it’s hard to call it lustful bestiality. It’s ridiculous. To my knowledge, I don’t even think octopuses have orifices down there. So we talked a lot about what the plans were, what we could do and what was tolerable.“, he then confided.
Intimacy coordinators on set
Eric Kripke also took advantage of the TV Line interview to reveal that “various“Intimacy coordinators were present during the filming of the orgy. “Honestly, I was fucking terrified during the whole shoot because there are so many actors who are naked and faking sex.
The odds of something going really wrong were so scary to me that everyone from top to bottom of production said, ‘We have to be very correct about it, very professional and be like cops in every aspects of filming to make sure it’s a safe space for everyone’. And that’s what we’ve done”, he concluded.
The broadcast of season 3 of The Boys continues this Friday on Prime Video.
