Dell xps 15 9520 review top down angle view

Mark Coppock/Digital Trends

Dell XPS 15 (9520)

Always the best, only faster

Advantages

  • Simplified and solid construction

  • aesthetically perfect

  • Strong productivity and creative performance

  • Above-average battery life

  • Excellent keyboard and touchpad

  • Superior OLED display

  • Exceptional sound

The inconvenients

  • Dear

  • Performance ceiling limited by thin chassis

The XPS 15 has been our go-to 15-inch laptop for years. And while it hasn’t received the same drastic overhaul as the XPS 13, its familiar aesthetic is far from outdated. The carbon fiber weave in the palm rests still looks and feels great – and, of course, the tiny bezels around the display are industry-leading.

More importantly, this year’s model pushes more performance than previous years, adopting Intel’s latest 12th Gen H-series processors. Thanks to advancements in Intel’s hybrid approach, the Dell XPS 15 has more (and faster) cores than ever before. The OLED display is great as always, and while it doesn’t have the extreme battery life of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the XPS 15 is as close to a usable alternative as you can get on the Windows side of fence.

Hyperx cloud mix 04 headphones review

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends

HyperX Cloud Mix Headphones

A gamer’s perspective on true wireless

Advantages

  • Excellent battery life

  • Comfortable

  • Solid sound quality in games

  • Work with virtually any device

  • Great microphone quality

The inconvenients

  • Frustrating touch controls

  • Dear

  • No ANC

If you’re going to have dedicated wireless headphones for gaming, they better be good. HyperX seemed to know this was about the design of the Cloud Mix headphones. It’s the kind of product that works just as well for gaming as it does for daily work and phone calls, thanks in large part to the 2.4GHz connection available. Instead of relying solely on Bluetooth, Cloud Mix headphones give you that low-latency connection gamers need, whether they’re playing on the Nintendo Switch or their own gaming PC.

Although it doesn’t have ANC, the HyperX Cloud Mix certainly makes an interesting case for gaming headphones – and we’re excited to see how this growing product category will blossom over the next year.

Weber genesis smart grill review

Weber Genesis Smart Grill

Integrated smart kitchen

Advantages

  • nice design

  • Sustainable construction

  • Easy to light

  • Built-in smart technology

  • AC or Power Bank option for smart module

  • Lots of storage

  • The extra burner is practical

The inconvenients

  • Cost?

  • Learning curve with the Weber app

  • Assembly takes time

A smart grill isn’t as far-fetched a concept as it sounds. The Weber Genesis integrates Weber’s Smart Module (which you can purchase and attach separately) into the grill. It can monitor the temperature of your food with the included cooking probe and alert you via the app when your food is ready.

The app is awesome, filled with recipes designed to work with the sensor and send notifications to your phone. The grill itself is still the star, however. We really liked the smart module, but the Weber Genesis is a premium grill at the end of the day with durable construction, plenty of storage space, and an extra burner on hand.

Logitech mx 2 mechanical keyboard review

Jacob Roach / Digital Trends

Logitech MX mechanical keyboard

Form meets function

Advantages

  • Excellent typing experience

  • Works with Windows and MacOS

  • Pairs with up to three devices at once

  • Adaptive and helpful backlight

  • Pairing is a snap

The inconvenients

  • A little expensive

  • Limited key remapping options

  • No hot-swappable switches

The Logitech MX Mechanical just makes sense – and frankly, we’re surprised it’s taken Logitech this long to get a proper mechanical keyboard into its MX line. The MX Mechanical delivers one of the best typing experiences you can get right now thanks to its low-profile switches, which deliver the perfect amount of snap for hours of typing. Logitech also offers three different switch options, so you can customize the feel you want.

It’s expensive, but the MX Mechanical is worth its price. You can pair it with up to three devices on different operating systems and switch between them with the press of a button. Best of all, the keyboard automatically switches between a Mac and Windows layout depending on the device you’re using, so you don’t need to fuss with toggle switches.

Mw75 00013 master and dynamic exam

Simon Cohen / Digital Trends

Master and Dynamic MW75

Sound amazing, cost a fortune

Advantages

  • Luxurious materials

  • Top notch build quality

  • its amazing

  • Very good autonomy

  • Digital wired connection

  • Wear sensor

The inconvenients

  • Very expensive

  • Huge carrying case

  • Heavy

  • Annoying ANC mode change

If you’re spending $600 on noise-canceling headphones, you want them to go beyond great audio quality. And that’s what Master & Dynamic’s MW75 headphones deliver. They sound better than even Sony’s WH-1000XM5 headphones according to our audio expert Simon Cohen, and they’re built with top-notch materials that look as good as they feel.

For sound, the MW75s are distinguished by wired digital connectivity. You can run them in direct analog mode, or you can connect them with the USB-C to USB-C cable to take advantage of the headphones’ built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC). A DAC alone will set you back at least $200 (and several thousand at the high end), so it’s a great inclusion to see on the MW75s.

U by moen 3 smart faucet review

U by Moen Smart Faucet

A versatile must-have for the kitchen

Advantages

  • Provides accurate water temperatures

  • Precise measurements

  • Voice command works great

  • Beautiful design in many styles

  • Battery or mains powered

  • Can be installed yourself

  • Versatile: No handle, movement or voice

The inconvenients

  • Requires significant initial setup

  • Some may be intimidated by the installation

Moen’s U Smart Faucet seems like a useless product until you actually use it. It can regulate your water temperature so you don’t burn your hands, but it’s the voice control and custom presets that make the U stand out. Using Alexa or Google, you can tell the faucet to dispense the exact amount of what you need and at the temperature you want.

Create a preset for your pet’s water bowl or let the faucet do the work and have it wash your hands (which will guide you through a proper handwashing routine with warm water). From hands-free operation when doing the dishes to precise measurements without a measuring cup, the U by Moen is an incredibly powerful centerpiece in the modern smart home.
