Tentsile’s New UNA Tree Tent is Made of 100-Percent Ocean Plastic

Hardly ten days back, I was castigating LUNA and expressing my unhappiness regarding the two-person ground tent introduced by Tentsile. Ten days later, I have nothing, but praises for their next creation. The British outdoor and sports goods company has unveiled its first-ever tree tent made of 100-percent ocean plastic. It’s a great example of trendy sustainable design that also boast the beauty of a blazing sunset.

Tentsile released its very first tree tent in 2012, albeit it took them ten years to turn it into a product that contributes to the betterment of the environment. Nevertheless, the latest hanging camping shelter by Tentsile is made of ocean plastic recycled from 128 plastic bottles. Ocean UNA hammock tent is a part of Tentsile Ocean range collection and can be availed at their official website for $350.

The fabric of the tent is made of ocean plastic that was extracted from the Western Pacific Ocean. The one-person tree tent features a three-point anchor system and can be suspended off the ground with ease. Meant for a single camper, the tent also has sufficient space for storing gear. Users can place a sleeping pad between the double-layered floors that adds more comfort while sleeping.

On a little downside, the tent is available in one color option – white. However, the company explains that the camping gear is made of undyed fabric which uses 70-percent less water in the production process and zero chemical dyes, thus contributing to the environment. Weighing only 5.1 lbs, the tree tent is not at all a bad option for any backpacking trip. In fact, one can even set it up at the backyard and enjoy whimsical view of sun setting.

The Tentsile Ocean plastic collection also includes a hammock. It is also available in white, and has been designed with low footprint in mind. Donning ocean plastic as fabric, the hammock stretches nine-feet long and can even accommodate a man as big as Jorge Gonzalez.
