Good news for fans of supernatural : the most famous family of hunters of supernatural creatures will soon be back on the small screen. But without Dean and Sam, played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in the 15-season cult series.

After having canceled en masse yesterday many of its fictionsof Dynasty to CharmedPassing by Roswell, New Mexico, the American channel The CW has officially ordered three new series which will arrive on the air during the 2022-2023 season. And have been talking about for some time now, like The Winchesterswhich is none other than a prequel to Supernatural.

Created by Robbie Thompsonwho will produce the series with Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel Ackles (The Scott brothers), The Winchesters will focus on the youth of Mary and John Winchester, the parents of Sam and Dean, and will notably recount their meeting and the way in which they risked everything to save their love, but also the world, threatened by the forces of evil.

This new spin-off series is thus the third attempt at a Supernatural spin-off by The CW after Bloodlines and Wayward Sisterswhich didn’t make it past the pilot stage in 2014 and 2017. The story will be told from Dean’s perspective, and Jensen Ackles will narrate it, though no comedian appearance is scheduled.

As for Mary and John Winchester, who had been played by Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the parent series, they will be camped here by Meg Donnelly (American Housewife) and Drake Rodger (The In Between), which are still relatively unknown to the general public and will carry a project on their shoulders for the first time.

A Walker prequel and a new DC series also ordered

Just like Jensen Ackles, who we will soon find in season 3 of The Boys on Prime Video, Jared Padalecki hasn’t been idle since the shutdown of Supernatural since in addition to being the star of Walkerwhich will return at the start of the school year for a third season, he is also the producer of a spin-off titled Walker: Independence which was also commissioned by the CW.

Led by Katherine McNamara (Arrow) and Matt Barr (Blood & Treasure), this western-themed prequel will be set in the late 1800s and will follow Abby Walker, a wealthy Bostonian whose husband was murdered before her eyes on their journey to the Great West.

Hungry for revenge, Abby soon crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, an outlaw with whom she will eventually go to Independence, Texas. A city where they will meet eclectic residents fleeing the demons of their past and pursuing their dreams of wealth. But in Independence, a city in flux, nothing seems to be what it seems.

As for the third novelty ordered yesterday by the CW, it is Gotham Knightsa new series from the DC Universe which, despite being overseen by three writers from batman (Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams), is not a spin-off of the adventures of Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie).

The action of Gotham Knights will take place shortly after the death of Batman. His rebellious adopted son, embodied by Oscar Morgan, finds himself forced to form an unlikely alliance with the children of the Dark Knight’s enemies, all of whom are suspected of his murder. Having become the most wanted criminals in the city, the members of this gang will have to fight to clear their names.

But in a Gotham without the Batman to protect it, the city is now more dangerous than it has ever been. And it just might be that, against all odds, this team of fugitives will ultimately become the next generation of vigilantes the world needs, known as the Gotham Knights.

Despite the cancellations a few days ago Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, as well as the announcement yesterday of the discontinuation of Naomi after only one season, The CW remains faithful to the DC stable with Gotham Knights, which also includes Mischa Collins from Supernatural in its cast as Harvey Dent.
