Stripping bare on France 2: what is the TV movie on revenge porn worth with Julie de Bona and…

France 2 is broadcasting this evening the unit “Laying bare”, inspired by the true story of a woman victim of revenge porn for four years. A punchy drama that highlights the damage of this violation of intimacy, brilliantly carried by Julie de Bona.

What is it about ?

Does Sophie take the wrong target when she shoots the bookseller. A bookseller loved by the whole neighborhood? She accuses him of having used their nights of love as a weapon to destroy her by exposing her on the Internet as a pornographic object.

Her trial will bring to light the ordeal of an ordinary young woman victim of cybercrime, and the devastation on her children, her relatives, even her work… But in the absence of evidence, will we believe her?

Wednesday March 30 at 9:10 p.m. on France 2

Who is it with?

To embody Sophie Parlier, this mother victim of revenge porn on the part of a man she fell in love with and with whom she had a brief adventure, the director Didier Bivel (Emma Bovary, M’abandonne pas) has set his sights on Julie de Bona, who needs no introduction since the success of Le Secret d’Elise, Le Bazar de la Charité, and Le Tueur du lac.

Opposite her is Julien Boisselier (Nina, Les Copains d’abord) who portrays Vincent Marsac, the bookseller who makes the heroine experience a real ordeal. While Edouard Montoute (Taxi, CUT), Samy Gharbi (Tomorrow belongs to us), Natalia Dontcheva (Unfaithful, I lied), Sophie Cattani (In Therapy), or even Evelyne El Garby Klaï (Here it all begins) complete the Uncovering distribution.

Well worth a look ?

A woman in her thirties enters a bookstore, suddenly brandishes a weapon, and aims at the bookseller, between rage and despair. Two years later, Sophie Parlier is in the dock, facing the bookseller in question, Vincent Marsac, now in a wheelchair. But, despite appearances, the executioner is not who you think.

Written by Barbara Grinberg and Hélène Cohen, Mise à nu, which is inspired by the true story of Sophia D., a victim of revenge porn for several years, tells the ordeal of Sophie, a mother who sees her life shattered the day when Marsac, her new companion, posts intimate videos of their sexual encounters on social networks. Simply to make him pay for the rejection he suffered, because Sophie was not ready to let him fully into her life and take responsibility for their story.

From the first minutes, Didier Bivel’s TV movie grabs us with its ability to transcribe the heroine’s distress and the descent into hell in which she will gradually find herself plunged despite herself. Important and necessary, Mise à nu shows how destructive cyberbullying can be, both in terms of private life and professional life.

As she tries to redeem her dignity with her loved ones after this “violation of privacy” she suffered, Sophie also embarks on a long-term legal battle, within a system still unaccustomed to this kind of complicated business, in which the culprits are not easy to unmask.

Well put together, the France 2 telefilm effectively succeeds in alerting and raising awareness of the dangers of intimate videos or the exchange of images on the networks or via telephones. But also on the importance, for the victims, of not isolating themselves and of daring to speak. Because there is obviously no shame in having been the victim of an act of cybercrime like revenge porn.

A strong message for a hard-hitting TV movie not to be missed, which owes a lot to the flawless interpretation of Julie de Bona, once again excellent, which proves, after Service stolen, Plan B, or I love her to lie, recently broadcast on TF1 and M6, that she is just as comfortable in pure drama as in comedy. And that upsetting societal subjects fit him like a glove.

Around her, the rest of the cast is in tune, from Julien Boisselier, chilling as an unsuspected harassing bookseller, to Samy Gharbi, star of Tomorrow belongs to us who confirms all the good that we think of him in the skin of the lawyer of Sophia. Passing by the young Julien De Saint-Jean, a real revelation of the TV movie, who shows great accuracy in the role of Benji, the heroine’s eldest son.

It is therefore not surprising that Julie de Bona and Julien Boisselier left the last Luchon Festival with the interpretation prize awarded jointly for their scores in Mise à nu, which will be broadcast this evening on France 2 and will be followed by the unpublished Infrared documentary “Ennemi intimate “, also devoted to revenge porn (or “pornodisclosure”).
