Could Chewbacca have directly suffered the wrath of Kylo Ren? This is the question that arises at the sight of a new concept art of a cut scene from “Star Wars – The Rise of Skywalker”.
Should Chewbacca be tortured in The Rise of Skywalker? This is a question that can arise from seeing one of the concept art of the film posted on Twitter by Ryan Church. The latter is employed at Lucasfilm as a concept artist, where he worked on Episode II and III, The Force Awakens as well as the series The Mandalorian. He also competed in the first three Transformers as well as Avatar.
Church shared on his account a concept art representing this scene cut from Star wars 9 :
He accompanied this powerful image with a comment:
In the scenario, this moment was a bit vague. I chose the camera angle, composition and positions that say all about the camera. [relation entre ces deux personnages]. It could have been one of the most intense and important moments in the trilogy.
Chewbacca being the comrade-in-arms of Han Solo, who was discovered to be Kylo Ren’s father in Star Wars – The Force Awakens. In this movie, Ren kills his father, and the confrontation between Han Solo’s best friend Wookiee and his killer could indeed have been a highlight.
In the final cut, Chewbacca, believed to be dead moments after Rey accidentally destroys a First Order transport ship, is taken prisoner and then freed by General Hux, who is discovered to be actually a spy in the Resistance service. And no torture scene … phew!
Michel and Michel have a lot of fun on the False fittings of “L’Ascension de Skywalker”:
