Bread and wine. Holy Communion. No, we are not talking about the church. We’re talking about St John’s Bakery, where the baked goods and alcohol are so good they take on spiritual significance – even if you’re not religious. The cult bakery restaurant is opening a new outpost in London Bridge, supplied by the main bakery down the street in the Bermondsey Arcades.
That means it’ll be even easier to poke fun at their donuts, Eccles cakes, brownies, and pies, not to mention scoop up a loaf of sourdough (or five). And you can bulk order in advance to make sure you don’t run out. Or make your friends happy… Even we would be friends with you if you showed up with a box of St John’s donuts. Just say.
And it’s not just about the goodies: the shop will sell sandwiches wrapped with cheese, chutney and egg mayonnaise – all of which will be available on Deliveroo. So, office lunches just got a little less depressing and a little more dangerous. In addition to breads, you can buy wine to take away. This is what we call a match made in heaven.
