With L’Appel de la cigogne, France 2 has just started filming a new societal unit centered on surrogacy, based in particular on the autobiographical book by Marc-Olivier Fogiel What’s wrong with my family?, published in 2018 and inspired by his own journey to become the father of two children with her husband by resorting to surrogacy, reports the site Leisure TV.
Also nourished by many paths and testimonies of people concerned, the TV movie will follow the fight of two homosexual and heterosexual couples to succeed in founding a family:
Céline and Mathieu, a couple in their thirties who are farmers, receive a visit from a social worker on their farm. For five years and their first adoption application, they have been fighting to welcome a child. When the social worker offers them as the only option to adopt a child with multiple disabilities, Céline, in despair, attacks her.
While the social worker remains frozen, her intern slips the contact details of Darius, one of her friends, to the couple. The latter, with his partner Julien, resorted to surrogacy. If Céline is reluctant, Mathieu suggests that she meet the couple to discuss …
In the casting, Sofia Essaïdi, star of the thriller La Promesse broadcast on TF1 in January, will play Celine opposite Malik Zidi (Gloria) in the role of her companion Mathieu. Darius and Julien will be played by Roby Schinasi (The Clear Eyes Revenge) and actor and musician Benjamin Siksou (seen in the series Heroines on Arte).
Alongside them, we will also find Véronique Genest (Julie Lescaut), Patrick d’Assumçao (Cheyenne and Lola), Christiane Millet (Le Sens de la famille), Jennie-Anne Walker (Hero Corp) and Bruno Sanches, who will not have you certainly not escaped on the small screen since he was recently in the casting of L’Ecole de la vie on France 2 and HPI on TF1.
