M6 offers this Tuesday, March 29 from 9:10 p.m. a special evening devoted to domestic violence which will open on the broadcast She saved me, a unit telling the true story of Julie Douib and Laura Rapp, two women victims of domestic violence .

Directed by Ionut Teianu, who is also co-screenwriter with Jean-Marie Goix, this 90-minute TV film carried by Juliette Roudet, Laura Sepul and Lio looks back on the fight of these two women who will try everything to leave the grip of their abusive husbands.

Threatened and beaten by her ex-husband, Julie Douib, 34, mother of two young boys, went many times to file a complaint; repeating to anyone who will listen that he was going to kill her. On March 3, 2019, she was shot dead by her ex-companion, becoming the 30th feminicide recorded that year.

This tragic death will cause a wave of indignation throughout the country and will lead to the creation of the Grenelle against domestic violence.

For her part, after several years of domestic violence, Laura Rapp finally finds the courage to file a complaint against her husband after he tried to strangle her, in front of their daughter, on the night of April 16 to 17, 2018 .

But after a year in pre-trial detention for attempted homicide, he was released pending trial and placed under judicial control, which he violated several times. Worried for her life and that of her daughter, and faced with the inactivity of justice, she will have no choice but to launch an SOS on Twitter.

It is the fate of Julie, who died a few weeks earlier, which pushes her to act and to become aware of the risks she is running.

A fiction to save lives

Crowned with the Audience Award at the 23rd Luchon Festival on February 11, 2022, She Saved Me is a necessary fiction that will leave no one indifferent, as it tells with accuracy and sobriety the story of these two women, in a society where another 113 women died under the blows of their husbands in 2021.

For Lucien Douib, Julie’s father, and Laura Rapp, She Saved Me is a difficult film to watch, but it is essential to create awareness for future generations. “I hope it will make things happen and save lives”, explained Laura Rapp during a press briefing. “The most important thing for me is that this film can save at least one life.

A feeling shared by Lucien Douib, who hopes that She saved me will give women the courage to file a complaint. “Julie had the courage to do it, it cost her her life. But at least now he’s in jail (the ex-companion of Julie Douib was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a security period of 22 years, editor’s note) and i hope he never hurt anyone again”.

A demanding role

To camp Laura, M6 called on Juliette Roudet, who had the heavy responsibility of carrying her story. For the actress, seen in particular in Profiling, She saved me allows to highlight the difficult fight of women victims of domestic violence through these two destinies.

In making this film, I went through a tiny part of what Laura, Julie and so many other women went through.“, she confided. “I was protected, I had elbow pads, knee pads, leg pads. I was protected because it was not the reality.”

It’s fiction. And when the emotions were too strong and I felt overwhelmed, I could tell myself that it was for fake, when these are things that really happen to some women.”

Juliette Roudet also made the choice not to meet Laura before the start of filming. “I was afraid, for the sake of honesty and responsibility, that I had to stick to who she was. With Ionut (Teianu, the director)we thought it would be more interesting to build Laura according to what resonated with me, in order to really make her a fictional character.

The most important thing was to pass on his story and his fight.” A choice that is felt as the interpretation of Juliette Roudet is full of accuracy, despite the harshness of the subject.

She saved me is broadcast this Tuesday evening from 9:10 p.m. on M6. The fiction is followed, at 11:05 p.m. by a program presented by Nathalie Renoux, where she receives the main protagonists of the story. Then, from 11:25 p.m., the channel will broadcast two documentaries which each return to the destinies of Laura Rapp and Julie Douib.
