Since its launch, Disney+ has greatly expanded the horizons of the Marvel Universe through acclaimed series. The platform has also offered a gateway to many characters who could well upset the future of the MCU, such as Miss Marvel, Moon Knight or even the big bad Kang.

It is now the turn of a new heroine, and not the least, to take her first steps on the screen: Jennifer Walters. In She-Hulk: Lawyer, this single 30-year-old must learn to juggle her professional career and her new superhuman abilities that might not thrill her that much. Here are 3 good reasons not to miss his adventures on Disney+!

A SUPERHEROINE THAT STAND OUT

Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1980, She-Hulk, a character still unpublished in the MCU, finally arrives on our screens. A lawyer by profession, Jennifer Walters is none other than the cousin of a character well known to spectators: Bruce Banner, alias Hulk. It is also to the latter that she owes her famous superpowers which make her take on the appearance of an overpowered mastodon with green skin, as we discover in the 1st episode of the series.

A female version of the Hulk? Nothing original you will tell us… and yet! Contrary to what one might imagine, this young woman stands out from all her predecessors by her desire to… not be a heroine. At least not in the sense understood by his cousin, in the service of planet Earth and all its inhabitants. Jennifer just wants to help people in her own way: by practicing her profession in a courtroom.

Funny, bubbly, determined, with a slight hint of sarcasm, She-Hulk is brilliantly embodied by the actress Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black). Be careful not to underestimate her since she will definitely play a big role in the MCU sequel, as suggested Mark Ruffalo at the microphone of The Hollywood Reporter at the series premiere.

A MODERN COMEDY

With She-Hulk: Lawyer, Marvel Studios ventures into a territory that has long been an integral part of the essential recipe for its films, but which is now central to this series: humor. Thanks to its heroine’s repartee, as well as her Deadpool-style looks in front of the camera and her interactions with her cousin, among others, this comedy successfully goes off the beaten track.

Between complicity and competitiveness, the relationship between Jennifer and Bruce also highlights the independence and tenacity of its heroine. Faced with a Hulk convinced of having to play a role of mentor and teach him everything about his new faculties, his cousin does not hesitate to point out to him that she already masters her emotions particularly well thanks to her status as a woman in a world of ‘men. And she hasn’t finished surprising us!

She-Hulk: Lawyer also lifts the lid on some still well-kept mysteries of the fan-favorite universe: what happened to the Hulk after the Eclipse? How did he become this new version of himself (“Smart Hulk”) that we discover for the first time in Avengers: Endgame ? And was Captain America still a virgin before his famous “disappearance”? One last point that seems to particularly interest our heroine…

To discover all the answers to her questions, all you have to do now is dive into the 1st episode of She-Hulk: Lawyer, with Tatiana Maslany, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renee Elise Goldsberry.
