The shooting of Shazam! Fury of the Gods started in Atlanta. Director David F. Sandberg posted a short video showing Zachary Levi’s new costume on his Twitter page.
Two years after the release of Shazam! in our dark rooms, the sequel to the DC film is filming in Atlanta. The director David F. Sandberg has just posted on his Twitter account, a short video (visible above) of the new costume of the superhero, still played by Zachary Levi.
Photos were also shared on the site Just Jared. No more cape and golden collar, the teenager who becomes a superhero when he pronounces the word “Shazam” now wears a costume that is closer to the body and more adult.
In Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and his heroic alter-ego Shazam will face the daughters of Atlas, Hespera, played by Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, and Kalypso, played by Lucy Liu.
The young Rachel Zegler, soon to the poster of the West Side Story of Steven Spielberg has been cast for a role still kept secret.
No details of the plot have yet been revealed but we know that most of the actors of the first film should be back: Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy, Billy’s best friend), Adam Brody, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen or Ross Butler.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to hit our theaters on May 31, 2023.
