The Hollywood Reporter has just unveiled a major investigation that could shake Hollywood again. In the viewfinder, the toxic behavior of Scott Rudin, a great producer, whose name is not necessarily known to the general public. The films he produced are, however: to his credit, films like The Social Network by David Fincher, The Truman Show by Peter Weir, No Country for Old Men by the Coen brothers, or even “indie” nuggets like Lady Bird by Greta Gerwig. To its record, 151 Oscar nominations, and 23 victories, recalls the magazine!
In this article, Scott Rudin is described as a “monster“, known for his”volcanic temper“. Several testimonies from former colleagues denounce episodes of violence and abusive behavior. The producer created a climate of fear in his offices. For example, it is a question of an incident such as having violently thrown a computer by the window in the middle of a meeting.
Facts that seem to be known to many according to the article. The Hollywood Reporter recalls in this regard in his investigation that he had been described in the past in the press as “most feared man“or even”Boss-Zilla“.
In the wake of this investigation, Megan Ellison, CEO of the American distribution company Annapurna, and former collaborator, reacted indicating that this investigation was far from exhaustive on the abusive, racist, and sexist behavior of Scott Rudin. “As for Harvey [Weinstein], many people are afraid to speak” she says.
