Saving Private Ryan: Did you spot Bryan Cranston in the movie? – Cinema News

Broadcast last night on France 3, Steven Spielberg’s famous war film offers a secondary role to a still relatively unknown Bryan Cranston, a few years before the start of the “Malcolm” series. Have you noticed?

Broadcast last night on France 3, awarded 5 Oscars including Best Director for Steven Spielberg, Saving Private Ryan features a Tom Hanks totally inhabited by his character, in one of his most beautiful roles.

But around the Hollywood veteran, many are the new ones who cut their teeth in this unforgettable feature film.

In addition to a Matt Damon still a beginner and practically unknown at the time of filming (before receiving an Oscar for Will Hunting, just before the release of Spielberg’s film), Saving Private Ryan features very young Giovanni Ribisi, Barry Pepper and Vin Diesel.

The latter, completely unknown to the battalion (except for the Strays feature film which he himself had directed), plays the tragic role of Private Caparzo – shot dead by a German sniper in the first part of the film – a few years before his career does not take off thanks to Pitch Black and especially to Fast & Furious.

But the future interpreter of Dominic Toretto is not the only one to have risen to fame just after Spielberg’s film. A few years before he was asked to play the hilarious Hal in Malcolm, then the dark Walter White in Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston also played the soldiers in We must save the soldier Ryan.

Then in his forties, collector of more or less secondary roles, mainly on television, he thus lent his features to Colonel Pryce, who informed General George C. Marshall of the death of the first three Ryan brothers, at the beginning of the film.

A scene which therefore triggers the mission entrusted to Captain Miller (Tom hanks), and a role which seems to have brought luck to “Private Bryan”, since two years later, he obtained one of the very first roles of the Malcolm phenomenon series: that of the unforgettable father of the family Hal, who revealed to the general public his immense comic talent.
