- Samsung’s new foldables are reportedly in high demand in Korea.

- 60% of all units were claimed to have been sold by the Z Flip 3.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Galaxy Z Flip 3 are hot. They offer lower prices, better durability, and water resistance. It seems that the phones are getting a better reception in their home markets than other models.
Yonhap News reported that 800,000 Galaxy Z Series foldables were ordered in Korea during the week-long period. It cited its own sources. According to the outlet, 600,000. units were ordered via mobile carriers while 200,000 units were ordered as unlocked units.
According to the news outlet, 60% of pre-orders were for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. This means that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was pre-ordered in Korea for 480,000, while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was ordered for 320,000. It’s not surprising that the Z Fold 3’s clamshell foldable is much cheaper than the Z Flip 3.
Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 was reportedly sold in Korea at 80,000 units. The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s performance would be an impressive improvement.
These figures are only representative of one market for a brief time. We’ll be interested to see global sales numbers in the future. It is believed that Samsung’s Galaxy S21 had great sales in the US, but poor sales worldwide after six months.
Samsung’s smart strategy of making foldables cheaper and more durable seems to be a tentative step in the right direction.
