Samsung launches Walkie Talkie App for Galaxy Watch 4 Series

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: Samsung launches Walkie Talkie App for Galaxy Watch 4 Series

  • Samsung’s WalkieTalkie app has been added to the Galaxy Watch 4 series.
  • The app allows wearable owners to communicate using a push-to-talk system.

Just a few weeks ago, the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Watch 4 Classic was announced. Wear OS 3 is available on both devices, giving them access to many apps from the Google Play Store. Samsung now offers an official Walkie Talkie App (h/t , XDA).

The app turns smartwatches into push-to-talk walkie-talkies, as the name implies. Users can create channels and have “instant conversations” by using the app with other contacts. These contacts will need a Galaxy Watch 4 to communicate with them. You will also need to have a Samsung account in order to use it.

Samsung has not clarified the app’s operation range so it’s unclear if the Walkie Talkie App will be useful to hikers and those looking for a backup communication channel. Samsung suggests that you use the app first “while your Watch is connected to the smartphone”, meaning it will work independently after being set up. Users are also asked for optional location access. This is used to create your channel and search for nearby friends via Bluetooth.

You can always pick up your phone if you don’t want to talk to your watch.  That contact is great, but what’s the fun?

You can purchase either the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic if you do not have one yet. Make sure you grab the Walkie Talkie App from the Google Play Store below.

This list of walkie-talkie apps will help you if you don’t have a Samsung smartwatch, but do have an Android phone.
