Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: Some clues about the original launch date
- The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has been featured on the Bluetooth SIG website.
- This device is shown alongside Samsung’s latest foldable.
- Is this a sign that Unpacked was originally intended to launch the S21 FE?
Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE is a successor to the Galaxy S20 FE flagship. We know this for a while. Samsung’s forthcoming smartphone is now available online via the Bluetooth SIG site.
Two separate filings referred to the Galaxy S21 FE on the Bluetooth SIG website. Both filings specifically mention the S21 FE model number and the S21 FE name. Bluetooth 5.0 support is also mentioned in the filings. This is not an error as Samsung’s new foldable are listed with the correct Bluetooth versions.
Dual SIM variants
Another filing seems to confirm a dual SIM variant, owing to the “SM-G990B_DS model number.” Samsung uses the suffix “DS” to refer to dual SIM variants.
The listings don’t offer much more information. However, one interesting fact is that the S21 FE file was filed at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Watch 4 series. This could suggest that the original plan was to launch the Galaxy S21 FE alongside the foldable at the August 11 Unpacked event.
It’s possible that the filing of the FE was not at the same time as the launch date. It is common for devices to surface on Bluetooth SIG together if they are launched at the same event (e.g. The S21 series, Poco F3 Pro, and X3 Pro.
According to reports from Korea, the delay in the release of the upcoming smartphone was due to production problems or marketing reasons by Samsung. However, the accidental appearance on Samsung’s official Instagram account of the phone suggests that it is likely to be released soon.
