Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and director Robert Zemeckis evoke this new adaptation of the novel “Sacred Witches” signed Roald Dahl, broadcast on CANAL + this Friday, May 28 after its video release in France.
It was due out in November. Then at the end of December, which would have made him a perfect Christmas movie. But like many others, Sacred Witches has encountered the closure of French cinemas. Released on video (VOD, DVD and Blu-Ray) on Wednesday March 17, this new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic is now broadcast on CANAL +.
Thirty years after Nicolas Roeg’s version, it’s Robert Zemeckis who makes the novel his new playground. And adapts this story in which a young orphan from the South of the United States faces an army of witches, led by their chef and gathered in the same hotel where he and his aunt are staying.
In the role of the villain with a sharp accent, Anne Hathaway has a blast with a performance reminiscent of Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn in Death Looks So Good, from the same director.
The latter returns, with his actress but also Stanley Tucci, on this new adaptation, his taste for special effects and the timelessness of Roald Dahl’s stories.
