The most expensive model in the Q series
Roborock’s vacuums have come a long way in a relatively short period of time. The brand recently launched its Q series, a range of budget robot vacuums that offer powerful cleaning, but at a lower price than the S7 MaxV series. The Q series starts at a retail price of $430. This range includes the Q5 and Q5+, which are vacuum-only models, as well as the Q7 and Q7+, which both vacuum and clean. There are also Max versions of the Q7 and Q7+ which are more powerful than the non-Max versions, and each of the plus models comes with compatible self-emptying docks.
To see how the Q Series compares to other robots on the market, I tested the $870 Roborock Q7 Max+ for two weeks. I was particularly impressed with its power and mapping capabilities, but I wish it came with more cleaning accessories.
A clean design
Table of Contents

The Roborock Q7 Max+ is available in black or white, so you can choose the color that best matches your living space. Looks a lot like your standard robot vacuum – circular, with an eye-shaped protrusion on top that helps the vacuum see where it’s going. It has other sensors (cliff sensors, accelerometers and bumpers) along the front perimeter and bottom to prevent the Q7 Max from falling down stairs, hitting objects or getting stuck.
It’s a high quality unit, but it’s a little big and heavy. It measures nearly 14 inches in diameter, about three and a quarter inches tall when the wheels aren’t fully extended, and it weighs 8.38 pounds. I don’t have a low cabinet, so its height wasn’t too much of an issue for me. However, unlike some other robots I’ve tested, the Q7 couldn’t navigate under my fridge.
When you lift the door flap above the robot vacuum cleaner, you will find the combined water tank (350 milliliter capacity) and dustbin (470 ml capacity). On many robots I’ve tested, the water tank is located directly above the mop pad. The Q7 is different in that the water reservoir is separate from the mop pad.
The brush roll is rubberized and has no bristles, making it easy to clean and maintain. The rubberized brush is also more effective at grabbing pet hair without clogging. There is a side brush, which helps pull dirt towards the main brush.
A self-draining robot

The Q7 Max+ comes with the Auto-Empty Dock Pure feature, which means the dirt empties into the dock every time the robot returns to recharge. The self-emptying docking station includes a dust bag, which you only need to replace about once every seven weeks. There is also an extra dust bag included in the package, and you can buy extra onegs from Roborock for $19. Alternatively, you can purchase off-brand dock-compatible bags that come in packs of six to 12 for around $20. It would be nice if Roborock included enough bags for a year, but unfortunately that’s not the case.
Impressive suction power, long battery
The Q7 Max+ has very good suction for a robot vacuum with a rating of 4200pa (Pascal units). It’s better than most robot vacuums, including many Roombas. In testing, I used the Q7 Max+ to clean my first level, which has mostly hardwood floors, but it also has some large area rugs and a bathroom with marble tile. My floors stayed crumb-free in the kitchen, and the Q7 Max+ did a great job of catching dust and hair from edges and corners. When it scoured carpets, it accelerated its vacuuming with its Carpet Boost feature and left the carpets free of dirt or debris. There were symmetrical vacuum lines visible on each of my mats, showing how thoroughly it cleaned them.
The Q7 Max+ has a 5,200mAh battery and the manufacturer claims it can clean for three hours non-stop (a maximum suction area of 3,229 square feet). The battery ensured that I never experienced a moment when I ran out of power and was always able to clean on a continuous cycle.
Mops and vacuums

This device’s mopping function isn’t as advanced as the S7 MaxV Ultra’s VibraRise mopping system, which scrubs floors and causes the suction system to clean its own mopping pad. The Q7 Max+ has a fairly simple, but effective cleaning system. It uses an electric pump to distribute and control water flow levels, allowing for 30 different water flow rates that you can optimize for each of your soil types.
While it won’t scrub like a sonic mop, it still does an exceptional job of cleaning dirt off floors with its damp broom-like cloth, and it can clean up to 2,583 square feet at once. This unit vacuums and mops simultaneously, so my floors stayed completely crumb-free, dust-free, and cleaned in one cleaning cycle.
Lack of accessories
After washing my floors, the cleaning pad was dirty. After seeing the mop pad and learning that my hardwood floors were so dirty before the cleaning cycle, I started making a conscious effort to clean them more regularly (instead of just vacuuming). Sometimes with hardwood floors you can’t see the dirt and you can only tell when your socks are starting to show the dirt. The problem with regular cleaning with the Q7 Max+, however, is that it only includes one cleaning pad in the package – no spare pad to use while you toss the main pad into the washing machine. washing, and no disposable pads. The dock doesn’t automatically clean its own cleaning pad like the S7 MaxV Ultra does, so having extra pads would be useful for daily cleaning without downtime for maintenance.
As mentioned above, the package comes with an extra dust bag for the self-emptying dock, but it does not come with extra side brushes or extra main brushes. You can purchase a two-pack of extra mop pads from the Roborock site for $17, as well as a two-pack of spare side brushes for $16. You can also find off-brand options on Amazon, where you get a larger pack of mop pads or brushes for about the same price.
3D or 2D mapping, decisive and quiet performance

The Q7 Max+ features LiDAR PreciSense navigation, allowing it to create an accurate map of your home. It moves around the room with purpose, cleaning the edges and then the center of the room in an S-pattern. It doesn’t burst into doors, walls, or furniture, and it’s not particularly noisy either. more.
Although I experienced some frustration with the app setup process as it wouldn’t connect over a 5Ghz connection and it took a few tries for the device to connect to Wi-Fi, the app dramatically improves the Q7 Max+ as a whole. It can create a 2D or 3D map, and you can also switch between the two. There is an abundance of features in the application, which allows you to include furniture, create invisible walls, prevent the robot from entering certain areas or rooms, indicate different types of flooring , etc. You can create schedules, track your attachment maintenance, and control a variety of other settings from water flow to auto-drain settings. You can really make this robot clean exactly where, whenand How? ‘Or’ What you want it.
Our point of view
The Q series is supposed to be more affordable and many Roborock Q models are reasonably priced, but the Roborock Q7 Max+ is still around $870. That’s not exactly a budget price considering the fact that you can pick up a good budget robot vacuum for around $300 (or around $500-$600 for a good self-bailing vacuum). Sure, it’s a fair price for everything it offers, but it’s not cheap.
Overall, I was impressed with its cleaning performance, battery, and app features. However, for such an expensive unit, I expected it to include more replacement accessories in the package.
Is there a better alternative?
The Q7 Max+ sits in a unique category as the most expensive vacuum cleaner in a budget series. It’s not as expensive as some of the higher end vacuum cleaners, like S7 MaxV Ultra or Roborock’s Ecovacs Deebot X1 (both of which retail for around $1,400), but it also doesn’t offer the same level of cleaning performance as the $1,500 units, especially when it comes to the cleaning.
If you’re looking for a robot with sonic cleaning, but don’t want to spend nearly $1,500, check out the Roborock S7 MaxV Plus. It sells for a little less ($1,160). If you want something even more affordable and cleaning isn’t at all important to you, look at a lower-tier Q-series model like the Q5 or Q5+.
How long will it last?
The Q7 Max+ is pretty close to its similarly priced rivals (technologically speaking). It doesn’t allow 5Ghz Wi-Fi, but it does offer lidar navigation, 3D mapping, and auto-drain. With proper maintenance, this robot should last at least a few years, and there’s no reason to think the app should discontinue support for this device anytime soon.
Should I buy it?
Yes. The Roborock Q7 Max+ is a tough, durable robot that reliably vacuums and mops floors. It has a great battery, powerful suction, and a self-emptying docking station so you don’t have to do any prep work before cleaning.
