On hiatus since the end of March, Riverdale was to return to our screens for the rest of season 5 in July. The new episodes of the teen drama will not finally be available until a month later.
Riverdale fans will have to be patient. The continuation of season 5 of teen drama, on hiatus since the end of March, will only return on August 11 on the CW in the United States according to TVLine. The next episodes were initially supposed to be available from July 7, but the channel has decided to postpone the return of the series by one month.
Broadcast in US + 24 at the rate of one episode per week on Netflix at home, French fans should be able to watch the sequel to Riverdale from August 12. The CW has not yet given an explanation even if it is likely that the pandemic is involved and that it is delaying the filming and post-production of the next episodes.
This shift could also have consequences for season 6, already confirmed and ordered by the American channel. It will therefore be necessary to wait an additional month to discover the rest of season 5 of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s series.
As a reminder, season 5 of Riverdale had made the wise choice of a time jump of seven years after graduating from high school. We then found Archie (KJ Apa) as a military veteran, Betty (Lili Reinhart) now an FBI agent, Veronica (Camila Mendes) as a married businesswoman and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) who became a depressed writer.
The gang met in Riverdale to solve new mysteries but also to save the city from the schemes of Hiram Lodge. Episode 10, the last chapter to air at the moment, was marked by the return of the flames between Archie and Veronica, Betty’s determination to investigate the disappearance of her sister Polly and Jughead evaporated in the wild while he was in writing his new novel.
